I am suprised at the reaction to the suggested trade. Rudy Fernandez for the difference between the 13th and 22th pick is actually good value. The draft is always a total crap shoot after the top 6-7 picks..

Of the bunch, Jefferson is the only one that has had a career thats noteworthy.....most of them are scrubs. Thats 1 impact player out of 10 = 10% chance of drafting anything special. Fans get to enamoured with the unknown this time of the year.

I'd beg to differ. Thabo is starting in OKC and doing so deservedly. His defense is amongst the top in the league and he might just be the best defensive stopper at the 2 guard.

That aside, I am actually a Rudy fan and have the good fortune of watching him play live a couple of games a season at the Rose Garden. I do, however, find him completely redundant on the current roster. If we needed wing scoring from the bench he would be a good pick-up. If he is acquired I can only hope and pray to God that it is part of a series of moves that sees Belli on his way elsewhere. Belli shows promise, but having been able to watch both in numerous games last season, Rudy is a more polished player with a higher bball IQ. We would definitely enjoy having Sonny, DD and him on the team for the warmup dunk-offs.

Rudy is a much better player then any of the current SG's we have. I wuld love to give all the minutes to DD and weems too but rudy is a good option if we can dump beli somewhere.

except Chicago is in talks to send Deng+#17 to the Clippers for #8... they're trying to clear capspace to sign Bosh+Lebron, they don't want Rudy.

I agree you get value in this deal. But you can get value by signing Iverson to a contract as well. That doesn't necessarily make it a wise move. You know? When it comes to the draft though, this can totally work out as long as you know what you're getting/doing at 22. Draft if a crap shoot, but I don't think it's a coincidence that reputable organizations routinely draft well.

It's also not a coincidence that the teams that have drafted well recently, Portland, OKC are looking to move up or have already moved up into our range. The teams that have drafted poorly (Miami) have moved down.

I just find it peculiar that we would even want Fernandez. What does he bring this team? And shouldn't we shy away from malcontents? And what can we get at #22 that we could also get at #13. I don't see it, myself. I see a LOT of project bigs and some interesting tweener 3/4s.

BC is an absolute bafoon! When is he going to address the defensive issues with this basketball team? Adding Rudy freaking Fernandez is only going to make our defense worse. I know this deal hasn't gone through yet, but the mere fact that he is considering it is very troubling. Haven't we lost enough games on defense alone to open this mans eyes? There are some sleepers in this draft, possibly some dropping to the mid 20's. If there is a chance we get one of them, negating the difference we gave up in picks, we also get a solid young athletic wing that isn't nearly as bad as some seem desperate to state. I have seen a few of Rudy's good games to understand he is a solidly skilled player with room to grow at only 2 mill for 4 seasons.

He digressed last season therefore I believe he could rebound this season. There is a tendacy for rookies to do that. If he plays 25min I think he is a 12pnt/4brd player. That's not bad for 2mill.

You also have a draft pick that could turn out ok. They're there, just gotta find them. We could fail picking 13th.

I wouldn't be overly upset with this from a basketball point. From a perception point of view, this will be viewed from by most on this board.

He's cheap and he is a talented player. Regardless of what area of the world he comes from.

With the 13 rd pick we would at least get one of Aldrich/George/Bradley/Patterson. With the 22nd pick we would probably get none of them.

Rudy might be good, but if he comes here I'm afraid it means Weeems will be shown out of the door too
