With that kept in mind Houston has about as much to offer pick wise as Miami. They have some other assets, but still

The pick swap has nothing to do with our pick. You acquire Houston's 2011 pick and that can be swapped for NY's.

How does it work with the swap being #1 protected? If the Knicks win the lottery, does the 2012 draft then become swappable, or is the swap lost?

Mark Stein reports the Mavericks will be resigning Dirk- reached terms on a 4 year deal worth 80 mil and a no-trade....this just before they report Bosh is unlikely to get a S&T....as the wheel turns....

EDIT: Source is ESPN radio as well, btw

The Knick's picks aren't worth as much as people think. If they sign Amare and JJ and somehow move Curry for another player, they will be a playoff team.

Scola is good, but we are probably better off flipping him to another team. Hill would be a nice piece that we can keep our flip to another rebuilding team for a decent return.

Stange as it may seem, the 2012 Houston pick might be better than people think. If there is a lockout in 2012 and a season is lost, the draft will probably be conducted differently, with a weighted lottery involving all 30 teams. For all we know, Houston's pick would be better than New Yorks.

That would be spelled out in the documentation given the league; it's not public knowledge. Usually, the swap right would keep sliding until it can be applied.
