If you were the GM how would you rebuild this team?

I would try to find as many athletic, 6'9" guys who can shoot and defend. If I have to trade all my assets to do it then I will do that. This is so obviously where the NBA is heading so might as well get started.

Switch everything on defence. Shoot 3s or dunk on every offensive possession.

Lock Siakam and Poeltl in a gym all summer. Not leaving until they can hit 3s. Then I would keep both.

Because your trying to rebuild and in order to rebuild you gotta loose. You still have a decent team but def not one that would make the playoffs. You aim for the lottery that way and secure 2 first round picks with a good player in JV who may produce more with a bigger role and Delon who's a role player right now but could def be a starting PG in this league one day.

I've been an Udoka supporter for 2 years. Has all the tools.

Udoka seems like he has a shy personality for a head coach. I remember reading from a spurs fan somewhere that all their assistansts are pretty weak head coaching candidates outside of messina. Sean marks came from the spurs organization and interviewed both for brooklyn but hired neither. Idk i think theres something up with messina too that dude has been a candidate for everyone (even us back in 2011) but no one has hired him

Listened to the woj podcast with Messina and i think he is more ready than ever. The jump to the NBA from the Euroleague would have been difficult, but now he has a few years under his belt

Long time reader here going back to the Vince days, haven't really posted much, not much of a poster here. Wanted to give my two cents here since regarding our current state. I think of all the years being a fan and essentially going through these forums for the first time in a long time there are a lot of question marks regarding the current state of the team and exactly where we're going.

What I mean by that is , are we tanking and blowing it up? ......Are we adding pieces to compete? ....Are we going to be a treadmill team etc..

I was having a conversation with some friends and debating our current state. I don't think all is lost, guys. Now I'm not a Casey fan what so ever I think his coaching style is outdated and at times very confusing. I believe that like Houston ...we keep our core and see if a coaching change will make a difference. I believe our problem stems from that.

Now our PG situation...here is where I think we start...should we lose Lowry , looking at alternatives

Jeff Teague ? ..... a proven guy with Atlanta, things didn't turn out well in Indiana but I think us implementing and going back to that run-n-gun style of play he would compliment well and I don't think will command as much money as Lowry.

A sleeper that I haven't heard some of you mention is Milos Teodosic. Milos Teodosic is one of the best and most exciting basketball players in the world, who doesn't play in the NBA. He's a legend in the European ranks. He's been an MVP, a champion (just won the Euroleague this past year), and now a silver medalist in the Olympics. Could start over Joseph, very smart player with a high IQ. and a wicked 3point shot. Could give us the flexibility to resign Ibaka and potentially other pieces to stay competitive.

All in all guys , I truly believe that staying competitive and actually playing in the playoffs is good for our young guys in terms of development....I see people complaining about blowing it up. How long did it take our team to actually not only MAKE THE PLAYOFFS AND SURPASS 47 WINS BUT ....also make it out of the 1st round...which was something we couldn't do for a long time and we've done it two years in a row.

Have some faith..although this years playoffs was ugly I think a coaching change and more time to gel would be beneficial (like Houston) and should THAT not work out...maybe we should think about blowing it up.

Our main objective is to get Lowry and Ibaka back here. Develop our kids (NORM, Jakob , Wright) . DON'T LOSE HOPE! Rather be in the playoffs rather then stinking up the joint . Lets not go back to the Bargnani , Arujo era...for those that were here it was a dreadful time.

First of all, thanks for the first post. I hope it was worth the 10 year wait.

Secondly, I agree with you in that I don't necessarily think we need to blow it up. I do believe that we need to re-evaluate every position on our team currently (from coaches to players) and see who does and doesn't fit with this new vision.

Remember guys, some teams just have disappointing years sometimes. It happens to even the best franchises in the league.

If we blow this team up right now, we will be forever remembered as the team that got literally dismantled by LeBron James. Is that the legacy that this front office, coaches and players want to leave behind?

I think we need to stand behind our team , believe me...we DON'T want those dark days back....not fun man not fun. Makes me sick how people already want to throw these guys under the bus....up until last year WE HAVENT EVEN MADE IT PAST THE SECOND ROUND.
