Re: Tucker signs with the Rockets (4y/$32M)
Since Texas does not have an income tax I believe the total value of the deals offered were equal, if not slightly favoring Houston. This is one of those situations where neither party is at fault. Interested to see the years and dollars Ibaka and Kyle gets.

We're at 79.6 million right now add those 3. We're at 128 million
We're still 9 million over the luxary tax. We haven't used the MLE. You trade Carroll and there's no proper SF.
The MLE needs to be a SF. If then your still over the luxary tax by 3-4 million
Our cap situation with the talent level. It's crazy bad
Smartest raptorslife post ever
You know what
+2
Blow it up
It doesn't add up. No wonder masai is thinking a youth movement. The team isn't good enough
I agree. Im not interested in watching lowry and ibaka grow old....and this team getting the 8 seed. For 60 mil combined for next 4 years
We end up going back to 2003-2008'era
We've fallen off....theres no other way to put it

It's really easy, just re-sign Lowry and let Ibaka go. We had a better regular season and went 6 games vs Cavs without Ibaka, he doesn't impact winning basketball anymore.
Boom, save ourselves 20ish million/year

People were complaining about bringing the same team I was one of those people.
This is worse we're bringing back Lowry and ibaka with a worse supporting cast lol

Yeah, didn't realize how much this Tucker signing would hit us. We have no SF or PF at this point. A ton of PGs and Cs, and our only showcased developing talent slots in behind our highest paid player. This is nasty.

tbh, i don't know how you can get MORE committed to this team than trying to bring back essentially the same team as last year. they obviously tried to sign tucker and they're still trying to sign lowry and ibaka. tucker just went to what he felt was the better situation.
Rumors that we're trying to get under the tax line by dumping Carroll/JV. Rumors that we have considered going and young and could choose to do so if the price isn't right. The insistence on 3 year deals which signals a 2 year leash. It really doesn't scream commitment to be honest. Houston on the other hand is going for broke and they are doing it masterfully.
idk how a 4 year deal worth 32 (with a partially guaranteed 4th) versus a 3 year deal worth 33 somehow shows more commitment... it's not like the raptors lowballed him on a one year contract. i just don't understand how the 1 extra year is the difference between not being committed and going for broke...

He would've made 3 mil a year more in Toronto.
No state taxes doesn't make up that difference.

masai didn't do anything wrong... he offered him more money than the rockets did. as much as tucker provided during the regular season, he's not worth the overpay. especially not in this system. he's not an elite 3 point shooter and his individual defense doesn't matter against elite teams. guy was pretty much useless against the cavs.

Special instructions for Raptorlife
Create thread... Called 2003-2008 is back if we resign lowry and ibaka
Or something similar
Poll option
Rebuild and let youth play
Or
Watch some bad basketball next 4 years and resign lowry and ibaka to max

Not looking good. With Tucker not signing, does Lowry have second thoughts about whether Raps really want to compete?

This might be Masai's best play at this point, maybe re-sign Patterson to a cost-effective contract, if possible.

Re: Tucker signs with the Rockets (4y/$32M)
The last year of the contract with the Rockets isn't even fully guaranteed.
He would've made 3 mil/yr in Toronto. Even with no state income taxes he left at least a couple mil on the table.

To me it's either that, or just go into a full rebuild and let Lowry/Ibaka both walk
But rebuilding right now would suck. There's like 7-8 east teams legitimately rebuilding right now and we'd be behind them

Sorry, should have explained that the 3 vs 4 thing is extrapolated to the contracts being offered to the trio of Lowry/Ibaka/Tucker. It essentially gives them 2 years to prove themselves and wiggle room to go to rebuilding if they choose after that. The Rockets are committed. The 4 years will take Tucker to the end of his career and he's guaranteed to be on a contender for that duration with the Rockets barring a trade.
