My friend works at a hospital and just had a meeting. They're projecting this will last until August and are cancelling a lot of non-life threatening surgeries now just to make room for potential COVID-19 patients.

lol, you can really tell who’s out of touch with reality. Most of us are pampered AF in North America, buying some extra groceries and supplies isn’t some sort of heroic act. Anyone with a working credit card can do it. Hell, you can even get it all delivered to your door step.

This is all nothing compared to what some people around the world have to do just to survive on a daily basis.

Lol. It is definitely not a heroic act. But if this does end up getting worse, it won't be as simple as flashing your credit card though.

It's a state of emergency. I don't know if people are out of touch with reality but people are genuinely scared. Can you blame them?

I don't know about you, but I come from a country that has extreme poverty so I don't take what I got for granted.

Either way, I am sure this will pass.

And you're at an age where your friends still live which their moms and you think you even understand what I think about all of this or that you know know why? You don’t. Not even close.

Pretty sure all of us have friends of varying ages.

You put yourself out there, you say things like ", panicking like a child". You obviously have no one else to think about except yourself. Nothing wrong with that. But don't pretend the way you live is somehow better or smarter than the way others do.

If you can't understand some people have responsibilities to others who depend on them than God bless you and be on your way.

Being prepared and panic buying/hoarding are two different things. Having supplies to last you a few weeks is fine but no need to stock up on supplies for multiple months. It's also very selfish to only think that you or your family needs supplies and **** everyone else. Other people and family need supplies as well and hoarding things you may not necessarily need is selfish and irresponsible. You just need to think logically and not panic like all the other mindless idiots out there buying everything under the sun that they don't even need.

I have elderly parents who semi-depend on me for certain things. My mom mentioned that she may need some toilet paper because they are running out so I ordered them 2 packs of 24 rolls of toilet paper from amazon. There is no need to be stupid and buy like 10 packages of toilet paper.

And no, I do not live with my parents. I have a house that I paid for myself from the money I earned from my job.

But really though. This is what I have been trying to tell this dude.

What is so wrong with being prepared? Especially when there are people who depend on you.

For anyone panic buying food, instead use this opportunity to lose the 10-15 pounds you’ve been wanting to drop, practice portion control, don’t let leftovers spoil, get to a healthy weight=improved immune system, start vegetable seedlings, start composting.

Fair enough, but again, even the lockdown European countries are letting people leave their homes to go buy food and supplies. The government isn't going to let people starve themselves to death in their homes.

Then why did you even respond from the start, jump into a conversation that wasn't with you, and do it with insults, if you didn't understand the **** subject? I even put the word "SUBJECT" in capital letters for you in my previous post for you? What the actual ****.

And what kind of person doesn't expect ridicule and then moans about it to everyone when they insult someone out of nowhere, like you did in your first post and every other one. Smfh. Don't respond to me ever again, will you.

I have a friend who’s a nurse and she told me something similar, except they were projecting early to mid summer before the majority of it dies out. So maybe things will start to calm down by early summer which wouldn’t be too bad compared to some of the doomsday hysteria out there.

planetmars wrote:Try almond breeze instead of milk.. I've been a vegan for years so I'm biased but that stuff rocks. Plus it can stay on the shelf for several months. You should be able to find it in local grocery stores (organic / whole food sections) or stores like Whole Foods.

As for TP I'm hearing the largest manufacture will not stop producing and is running their machines at 100% capacity. So stores will be stocked again. If worried check out amazon for some cheap alternatives.

Costco carries Almond Breeze too, but any brand is fine.

I've also been drinking almond milk for a few years. It's great.

The only people out of touch with reality are the hoarders. Our supply chain isn't affected. There is no supply crisis. Short of people turning into zombies from this virus, there won't be one at any point.

What’s going to happen when the minimum wage workers decide to stay home in isolation instead of cashiers and stocking the shelves?

yeah all elective surgeries have been cancelled so the surgical ward can take more patients and likely in the future the spare Operating rooms can house the intubated covid-19 patients

Theyll just starting paying people who arent sick more money to work. Costco, Walmart and Amazon will fork the cash out to have people operating their businesses until a government-mandated shutdown happens. Alot of people cant afford to stop working, even in a pandemic.

If you need pasta and bread just go to commissio bakery at Caledonia and Castlefield in Toronto. There is plenty of Italian goodies

I'm wondering what this all will mean for retail stores, theatres, etc. Companies like Nike will start realizing (if they haven't already) that they don't need traditional retail operations to drive their business. Same thing with Disney once they realize that they don't really need movie theatres as a distribution channel.

The next 3+ months are going to be interesting to see what happens.
