Re: 2021 Free Agency News & Discussion Part 2
Daniel Hackett wrote a nice piece about how NOP can still absorb Dragic. I do not want Dwight Powell on this team, tying up 11 million in cap next year to roster this guy is such a waste, we would be doing Dallas a massive favour unless Dallas sends a sweetener (ie future pick or good prospect). I just find this entire off-season poor to date. We lose all our cap space to do this Lowry S&T in return for Precious. We keep Trent's cap figure lower by giving him the PO in year 3 but dont have any cap space to use... its just a puzzling off-season and the roster construction as currently presented is poor. Masai and Co, they won us our first championship and thats great but since then its been a lot of questionable moves. This business moves on quickly, its very much what have you done for me lately and the last few FA periods have been disappointing to say the least. Holmes isnt the cure to all our problems, he isnt the savior but he did address a major hole which is C. Rolling with Birch & Precious next year doesnt really solve any of our issues at that position and were essentially going into next year a much worse team. Off-season is still early but it just leaves a lot to be desired with how the off-season has gone so far. The Barnes pick is fine but small thing of having 46/47 in the 2nd round and not using that to consolidate to get a better prospect is a miss for me. Keeping Dragic and running with
Fred/Flynn
Trent Jr/Dragic
OG/Barnes
Siakam/Boucher
Birch/Precious
Is ok i guess, i wouldnt have done it this way but thats why Masai and Bobby get paid what they get paid. Hopefully we are missing something and the full picture will come shortly but as it stands right now its been a disappointment to me.

2 expiring vets that help now. A young big to add to the Scottie timeline
I'd prefer to keep Stew and give Monte Morris
I'd really prefer to keep Morris and Stew and give the great Killian Hayes and 2nd round picks

We are in win-now as long as we have FVV&Siakam. FVV has already proven that he can lead the team to victories without Kyle.
Our C must be a stretch 5 but I would be curious to see how Nurse utilizes a rebounding machine like Drummond.
W/out a Center we managed to be ranked 4th in the East: Yup we are certainly in win-now mode. Some of you can pretend all you want that "we will be tanking next season"
You think we are in win-now mode since we have FVV & Siakam.
I think/hope we are in rebuild mode, and just have not found the right trade yet for FVV & Siakam

As they say...expectation is the root of disappointment. As it was said in the movie Parasite...the best plan...is no plan at all.
We should all be used to day 0 of free agency and not being involved unless it's resigning our own guys...which happened yesterday. Anyone who expected this team to make a splash...doesn't really follow the team.

Do we have a shot at John Collins? If we shed Dragic, pull the Trent QO now that we have him, we should be able to offer 90 over 4 years. It may be attractive for him.

Not a bad option to have at center...I'd throw the MLE at him.

Re: 2021 Free Agency News & Discussion Part 2
Again not really sure what mgmt is doing. It's like for two years in a row they haven't targeted anyone specific to address the needs of the team that these guys constructed.
Frustrated because we didn't have to SnT Kyle, and how is precious and a 2nd worth missing out on FAs.
Outside of trades, has Masai signed anyone worthy of their contract?
Same thing with my Dallas team. We have a generational player, we finally get capspace to surround him with talents, and we forgo the space to sign Reggie bullock and stay over the cap
Ino mgmts can't tip their hands but I'd love a reporter to ask these guys wtf they are doing

Missing out on free agents? We are NOT A FREE AGENT DESTINATION. This is not how the team operates. We draft guys, we sign guys on the cheap and we develop our own talent. We also trade for it. We aren't the Lakers or Heat. This should be obvious to you if you have followed the Raptors for more than a couple of years.

Surrounding Luka with shooters is a great move. LeBron blueprint for success.

This. We will always struggle to sign anyone of significance in the open market. The only way we can improve is through trades. Only argument you could make is taking herro instead of precious (if that was an option).

We don't have to pull the GTJ deal, just because it's announced doesn't mean it's filed with the league, he's still under his rookie scale cap hit

As long as we have 2 players that have performed at that highest level of basketball (NBA Finals Closing game) as our core pieces then there will be no going back to rebuilding/tanking. We managed to rank 4th without a center&home games.
All our players are getting better: OG has demonstrated some clutchness in the playoffs (vs Clev&Bos), we need to keep building on that too. Milwaukee, ATL and Philly were not impressive at all. I believe in Nick Nurse!
