Masai better be willing to part with Siakam here.

Just do it, man. Reset and let's roll.

Anyone think we could get our 2024 first back in a Siakam/#3/Simons deal? Like re-route Simons to SA for our 2024 first?
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

^ and why would they? They can do that next off-season if they really want to.

It's very rare for top 5 picks to be moved. As great as it would be to get the 3rd overall pick, I just can't see the Blazers trading it. They had more of a reason to trade the 7th overall pick last year and decided to keep it. This year they have a chance to draft a very good player and a team of Dame, Simons, Grant, Nurkic, Little, Sharpe and Scoot/Miller isn't really that bad of a team especially if Scoot or Miller can develop into an all-star caliber player. Portland isn't going to win a championship if they get an all-star for this 3rd overall pick. Therefore, it makes no sense to move that pick. They'd have to be pretty dumb to move that pick.

There are a couple things I wonder w/ regards to a Siakam trade

1. If we trade Pascal, would Jakob still want to re-sign?
2. If Siakam is traded and Jakob does re-sign, how would Darko address the spacing issues with a Barnes / Pöltl front court

When it's all said and done, I don't think Siakam is getting traded so I don't think either of the above scenarios will become real problems for us. But it does serve as a reminder as to how much I dislike our roster as currently constructed

I think OG to Indiana is more likely, and I would hate to see him go

Simons has improved every year and is pretty lethal on offense now. His defence is bad but why is everyone overlooking the defensive versatility Toronto has? OG and Barnes are switchable defenders who can plug holes left by Simons and there's finally a useful rim protector in Poetl hanging in the paint.

Some of Simon's liabilities will be covered by this and adding him makes it a lot easier to handle the loss of outside shooting and shot creation of FVV and GTJ.

I see Miller being compared to PG but he has nowhere near the defensive chops and that's what makes PG so valuable, his elite two way ability.

Draft positions aren't based on "oh this guy doesn't look like Lebron or MJ so he shouldn't be #1." If you look at this year's crop of players and you think Miller is #4 to 7 you haven't watched the young players AT ALL.

You have to remember PG didn't look like this version of PG13 when he came into the league. Heck PG13 went #10 for a reason in that draft.

Miller can shoot the 3, he can finish, can create for himself and others (which PG didn't have when he came into the league). he is long athletic and can defend on a top 10 defensive team in college led by a defensive coach. He wasn't asked to do more on defense yes but he is a good defensive player and you'd know that if you watched a few of their games (or read a few scouting reports). He already has vision and play making ability that is already better than PG13.

His offensive skillsets are quite advanced for a freshman and he will contribute from year 1. Which a lot of lottery draft picks (save Victor) can't and won't do.
I'm saying I'd rather pay a cheaper price for #4 or #7 than overpay for #3 when I'm not convinced Miller is going to be an allstar caliber player

Looking at players through only rose colored glasses leads to the overrating of many of these prospects.

I think you need a legit shot blocker at C when you start players like this. I'm not opposed to it, just that you have to adjust elsewhere. I don't think people understand that NBA is an offensive league, the rules were bent to increase offense, everyone just watched Denver with a 2 man game beat every team. WHY is everyone not criticizing all these teams like they do Rudy Gobert when his team is beaten? There is no difference. Its just accepted bias at this point.

Improve your offense.

Perhaps, but It seems as if we may have moved a top 10 pick in next year's draft for impending free agent, Yak Poetl, Los.

Simon's improves the offense, he's pretty lethal IMO -- are you agreeing he could work in Toronto?

GWS, I hate to inform you but 7-10 is outside of the top 5.

He's not my 1st choice and I would probably flip him to enter a full rebuild. My point is really that you view him in a 5 man unit. So, you need shot blocker plus a good help defender and then this defensive liability is reduced if you were to keep him. I don't thin the Raps current roster is structured in that way currently.

Portland will do what they always do, kick the can down the road. They will make their picks, re-sign their FAs and compete for a playoff spot. Lillard to this point has been content with this strategy. When he isn't, they will move him at that time. Basically the Wiz strategy with Beal before new management.
