Listen, if you want to bitch and moan about his attitude, go for it, it needs improvement. But if you want to say it's about more than just box scores, then talk about his wildly improved defence. He's putting up stats, he's playing good defence, and he's the only one capable of running a halfway efficient HC offence on this team.


If Scottie is dogging it out there and still putting up those numbers, what does it say when people who AREN'T dogging it are playing even worse? IQ over the last 10, 15/3/6.6 on mediocre defence. Gary, 11/2/1 in 28 **** MPG. Like ****, I get he's the "franchise" player, but maybe just realize the team is playing like **** overall, and he's consistently the only positive on the team.

So maybe everyone should get some ire, not one player.

The problem is, other players didn't walk away from the game before it ended, he did, he's also our franchise player, there's bigger expectations on him than others. His play on the court has been dog sh*t on defense over the past few games, if I am going to be honest, the counting stats do not count for the times he gave up a 4 vs 5 when he's constantly bemoaning the reffs for example. I was watching the Spurs feed and their commentators went in on Scottie, rightfully so. With that said, he's young, and 21, this is part of the growth. I'm confident this is a blip in the radar when we look back.

You absolutely raise some legitimate points, but the last line I think captures the true weight of this. He's young, but people are treating this like his career is over cause he's got a **** attitude.

It's not over and I'm sure he gets better...and hopefully more mature. But there are red flags all over him. Have been since day 1 sadly. He seems to struggle with motivation and he gets discouraged easily.

A team is going to take on the personality of it's best player. If Barnes doesn't figure his stuff out in terms of mentality and professionalism, I don't like the prospects of a Barnes led team.

I will preface this by saying that I’m still riding with Scottie. I think his potential is worth it to see what we got.

But, he really does give Vince vibes if I’m being honest.

He needs a fire under his ass.

I'm still a big believer in Scottie, and think he'll be a perennial All-Star type player. I don't view development game to game, and the leap that he's made overall this year is obvious.

That said, there are clearly some issues. I think Masai needs to sit down in the off-season and have a talk with Scottie, similar to the one he had years ago with Lowry, about what it takes to be a true professional and leader.

He shoulda been traded 2-3 years ago.

Now we have to support him into the best player he can be because this is the direction the FO took. The guy has gone from playing with a championship supporting cast to being the leader of a very young core so he definitely needs to adjust mentally. Maturity is lacking across the board now on this team and Scottie needs to focus on that aspect in the offseason as much as improving his play.

Its beyond embarrassing to lose to the Spurs on our home court and not a good look for the entire team, but wins don't matter right now and perspective is needed. We were once very close to being a good team this season and now we are not very good at all, to put it mildly. Scottie needs to accept this and try to encourage those around him as they grow and learn to play as a clear underdog.

In a couple seasons it makes sense to get upset when things go wrong, but right now, no. Until then 'enjoy that ride' it's gonna be depressing most nights but with the right offseason signings I could see us fighting for a play-in next season or two. Which doesn't say much, but will make it easier on the young players if we can have a goal to compete for as right now it's been a mind F for all the players who have been traded from playoff teams and Scottie who has seen all hope lost.

I don't think even the most blind stans would say he's perfect, he's got all kinds of issues, all players do. But anyone suggesting we trade a 3rd year player making the ASG while putting up 20/8/6 on 47/36/77 splits, just absolutely out to lunch.

There isn't a single team in the league that wouldn't want him, and yet we have some fans calling to trade, just utter insanity.

I don't mind people having that opinion. However, if they think that's actually going to happen anytime soon, they obviously haven't followed the team very long and are not at all familiar with how our FO works.

If someone said before the season, Barnes would put up 20/8/6/1/1 on splits of 47/36/77, I think nearly everyone here would've taken that.

Sometimes you need to step back and look at the big picture. Does he have flaws? Yes. Are there things he needs to improve on? Yes. Does he need to grow more into a leadership role? Yes. But overall, this season from a personal developmental standpoint, has been mostly a success.
