I think so too. He does have some weird habits defensively though. He has been in the league for a while, but hasn't figured out how to stay vertical on contests & just be big out there. He's a vet at this point. He is, 7'1" & has one of the longest wingspans in NBA history. All he has to do is look big.

He looks like one of those players who tries to block shots, rather than use his length to simply be disruptive & alter shots. It's more important than blocks.

Hopefully they can work with him & impriove some habits.

It's a bigger problem than that. He has no idea where to stand. No sense of angles and positioning.

He's the Z man. zorro. zero bbiq. Magic drafted him for his long arms and raw atheticism. Never looking at his bbiq thinking they can develop him and teach him. Same school as us man.

Now have CMB work on his offense and this guy will be something

He needs to go up strong after securing the rebound. He didn't do this during the crucial moments in the 4th quarter.

I'm encouraged that Darko benched IQ for the rest of the game, he was godawful. In the future, watch how Shead guards his man and how IQ guards his man, it will blow your mind.

I am convinced that if Dick wants to make a career for himself in the NBA, he needa to bulk up to near RJ size & model his game after Barrett.

Cuts, transition, open 3's.

I am just not seeing a future as a movement shooter.

It's a very stark contrast.

You give him a pass with this being his first game in our defensive system and no practices under his belt but he was extremely slow processing on the defensive end and didn't know where he was supposed to be out there. If that continues to be the case which I do expect to happen, it tells you why he hasn't been able to stick around despite the immense physical tools and skill set.

It's like a 98% chance that it continues to be the case. There are some youtube comps i watched yesterday and positioning is the common thread. He simply does not not where to move to and where to stand. Which we should be familiar with because of Bargnani.

Even if he was told to NEVER attempt a block (which i'm sure has been tried before).....his positional awareness will still stick out like a sore thumb.

Wtf was IQ thinking on his alley oops pass for Bamba's first play of the game. 95% of NBA players know not to make that pass. Poor guy could have seriously gotten hurt there.

it's their job tho - i think it's a legit question to ask as he's a starter and pretty much closes every game. they're trying to see if they can get a juicy response.

He's been the worst of the 3 aside from tonight shooting wise.

Shead statement and your statement are both true.

Its not only their man defense, watch IQ's help defense when hes doubling pointlessly or when a players attacking and he runs out of their way to provide 0 resistence.

I hate guys who play like pussies man... you need dogs out there to be a true winning player or be skilled as hell to overcome that.

We just need to stop coming up with ways to discuss how dick can improve. This is the nba guys come and go all the time. Not everyone can stay in the league for a long time. He’s just not good it is what it is, let’s move on. So many other players with more talent that never amount to anything, we’re here wasting our time trying to develop dick who’s ceiling was never high to begin with.

That being said, kudos to Darko this game for riding with the lineup that helped them win instead of sticking with his usual rotations and playing favourites.

Yeah that’s not a stupid question. Darko could have easily just said he was riding with the hot hand and he liked how shead was working with that group. Easy answer.
