Simmons will be a Sixers for about another month and a half when trades are allowed to happen starting on Dec. 15th. He'll be gone between then and the trade deadline in February.

Then we can discuss what Morey will get out of Simmons.

easy title if they trade for Lowry. Morey is an idiot.

Such a thing exists? Or are we just randomly using meaningless cliche expressions?

Simmons will be a 76er for a period of about 6-12 weeks.

Knew Sixers were doomed to fail when they didn't want to give up Maxey and Tisse for Lowry lmfao.

Not a serious franchise.

When did this failure that you speak of happen? Didn't the NBA season just start and the Sixers are 5-2 with Maxey as starting PG?

Is that record suppose to impress me ? We're 5-3 without our best player, big whoop lol. It doesn't mean that we're serious contenders.

This Ben Simmons issue doesn't happen if Lowry gets traded and you guys most likely win a ring last year. So yes, I stand by what I said lol.

The top of this draft really was Mobley, Barnes or bust huh. I'm glad we're not one of the teams wringing our hands and hoping the guard we tanked for figures everything out with their below average measurements.

Green at least has all that speed and one outlier shooting game, but I'm not impressed by his overall impact either.

Im sure Morey has been telling himself that for the past 6 months  Maybe if he asks for two superstars in return instead of three that timeline might actually come true

Morey has let the situation play out, for better or worse. Through all the noise, the end result of this saga still remains to be seen.

In any case, it will end up with Simmons getting traded within the next couple of months or so, in my opinion. Especially if the team continues to do just fine without him.

Ben Simmons has been a weakling throughout his NBA career. It's the main reason Jimmy Butler left.

So I think the Simmons issue would have happened regardless of whether Lowry is a Sixer or not. Simmons' dismal free throw shooting and lack of jumpshot was coming to a boil after all these years, and it finally exploded this past Spring.

As a religiously devout Sixers follower for 20 years, the team is much better without him. Spacing is better. Offense is top of the league. Team chemistry is off the charts this season. Simmons' absence has led to the development of the young ones, and his presence is most definitely not missed.

I don't see star upside, just an average rotation guard lool

It seems to me all the hype was when Cade was thought to be 6' 8". But he's not, and the expectations never recalibrated.

Mobley and Scottie. Not sure who I would pick #1. But I'm happy with either.

[edited to add] All those former Team USA guys are still buddies. I'm sure it will be a thing when Scottie makes the playoffs with the Raptors, and none of the rest do. Sometime in the next ten years, Raps will sign a premium US free agent.

It's gonna be Jalen Green. He is best friends with Barnes more than any other if I remember correctly.

Exciting player when he is on because if not he doesn't give you much else but he is fun to watch.

Uh, in the 2021 playoffs. And as every Raptor fan knows, success in the regular season is not necessarily indicative of success in the playoffs. Reach the conference Finals - as Raps have twice in the last five seasons - and we'll talk.

The Sixers came to the conclusion that the asking price for Lowry was too high at the trade deadline. It would've been nice to have Lowry, but the the Raptors wanted Maxey, Thybulle, Danny Green, and 2 first round picks.

That's two of our current starters + a young elite defensive stud + 2 first round picks.

This was all before Simmons went mental.

Not basketball-related but Ed Rogers took a huge L tonight. AA wins a title just 6 years after Rogers refused to re-sign him. We'd be watching Masai lifting trophies with other teams too if Ed was allowed to have his way. Once again I reiterate that Rogers is the worst owner in sports.

How nice is it to see that two teams led by DeRozan and Lowry are at the top of the Eastern Conference?

Yes, we all know Masai wanted a lot for Lowry. I don't know what the source for that specific ask was, although Morey has stated it was in la-la land. BUT, what did the Sixers counter offer? As I said above, the word was that discussions never even got to draft picks. One would assume Maxey plus matching salaries, but that's hardly enticing.

So it's stupid for Sixers fans to jeer at the Precious/Dragic deal without knowing what is the most that Morey would have offered. Obviously Precious is more the type of player the Raps are looking for than Maxey. And in fact the Raps had already targeted Precious in the draft before the Heat took him.

"He who laughs last, laughs best."

We all know Lowry|Green|Simmons|Harris|Embiid|6th man Curry would have definitely beaten the Hawks, in 5 games, despite Simmons' offensive struggle.

But Morey decided to act like Embiid has all of his career "ahead of him"
Embiid, who has been questionable for each of the past five games because of right knee soreness
already?!?!
Sources told ESPN's Ramona Shelburne that Embiid had an MRI on his knee over the weekend

I hope his body holds up!

I am totally fine with getting Precious as he is a special talent, but I really wonder if getting Tyler Herro was ever an option(like we were told)?
Pick one of Precious or Tyler with Dragic?! Was it really an option?

It is early but Tyler 22.4ppg 47.2FG% 40.8 3P% on the best team in the East.

that Herro package was just a rumor. They didnt want to part with him during Harden deal so i highly doubt Herro was available for Lowry S&T

yeah most likely and that must have been just a rumor too; Miami not wanting to include Herro in any Harden deal. Harden|Butler|Bam would look pretty darn good on paper right now.

I don’t think he ever was. Reports were saying Miami was unwilling to include Herro and LA didn’t want to include THT so it came down to Philly in the end.

The Heat were never going to give him up which is why the trade didn't go down. But the reaction on this board against getting Herro was ridiculous. It was pretty obvious that he had a sophomore slump and his off court distractions screwed him over last season.

Return to Toronto Raptors
