24 years old - yes

2-way player - is he? Suns are a -4.3 with him on the floor and +7.9 when he is off. Defense was better in 2021-22 when he was on the bench as well. That worries me a bit. Whenever I watch him I am not blown away by his defense either.

Playoff performer - He got ran off the floor by Dallas last year

We have actually had the chance to look at the Suns going to Finals with him as the anchor with some key defensive plays, containing league MVP Jokic in the process. But he is not a DPOY type of defender (he is physically gifted for that)
that Dallas series was unusual and plus it involved Doncic thus cant be too harsh .
As many have said including myself, his talent has certainly been held back with the Suns. A big doesnt just do 18/11 at 20/21 years old in this league randomly.

Vanderbilt is signed for another season for $4.7 mil. Actually that is a bargain for a rotation player.

Beasley has a $16 mil team option so the Knicks can choose to either pick it up or not.

Draft ranking doesn't impress me. That's in the past. Marvin Bagley III and James Wiseman were both second overall picks, and I wouldn't trade for either.

Ya there's absolutely no way that Masai pivots now and trades for KD... Replacing FVV & OG with KD doesn't all of a sudden make this current team a contender.

ideally you'd want to trade trent + og instead of fred; he would be the perfect 3rd offensive option shooting 3s with the gravity created by durant.
we would be top tier for sure; bench would still be an issue.

Even if you do that it only leaves 2 guys on the roster who can shoot the 3 (FVV/Durant), and still no bench or reliable starting calibre C (love Achiuwa, but still young to rely on for a championship run)... The team would be just as flawed. And would probably be a 1st or if you're really lucky 2nd round exit, and that's assuming we can make up ground & sneak into the play-in/playoffs to begin with.

The fact we are so far back in the standings make it even more wishful thinking. Nevertheless, just to continue the conversation for fun….We would have to get someone like Yuta or Seth back. Then throw Koloko and picks at the Spurs for Poeltl and Richardson.

KD, Siakam, Barnes, Achiuwa, GTJ, Boucher, Curry/Wantanabe, Richardson, Poeltl, Thad (ideally we trade Birch instead)

That’s enough to make a run this year if the key guys stay healthy.

But why are you even comparing those 2 to Ayton? Did any of them average 18/11 in their 2nd year(then CP3 came)? Did any of them do 14.7ppg/12rpg/1.5bpg/1.5spg / 53 FG% in the NBA Finals ? Did any of them contain Jokic in the playoffs?
