Re: Haynes: Damian Lillard Requests Trade
There's just no trade for Dame thats isnt headlined by either OG or Siakam. Trading Barnes when we have 2 FA's to be is just crazy. The resulting team isnt good enough and Dame is too old and too injury prone to be truly confident that you'll get even 1 top level playoffs out of him, let alone the multiple you'd need to trade Barnes/Dick/1st

If we're giving up Dick and 1sts then Trent will be the best other player the Blazers will get. Giving up that package is something you trade for Durant, not Dame.

Re: Haynes: Damian Lillard Requests Trade
I think the easiest trade would be a 3 team trade with OKC and Portland. OKC gets Herro, Miami gets their 2025 frp/Lillard/Nurk, Blazers get Jaquez, Dipo, Lowry, Bertans, 3 frps, 2 swaps, 2 OKC srps. Money matches almost perfectly.

Expiring OG or Siakam don’t pull Lillard. POR wants rebuilding pieces, not 2nd/3rd bananas that want to be paid like top guys.
Lillard to TOR doesn’t make sense for several reasons.

i think Portland would actually do that given the trade request, but that Toronto shouldn't. if there's a rookie deal player with higher upside than Barnes being made available for Dame then he would have been dealt by now.
I’d understand either side saying no.
the Barnes, OPJ, Boucher, Thad, Flynn package is the best deal involving Dame out there for both teams from a talent, fit, and timeline perspective. Doesn't mean it gets done, but makes the most sense.

Barnes for Lillard? I don't see Masai doing that but one never knows. Personally, I see Masai waiving Thad or OPJ, keeping Dowtin and then look to see how everything goes. I just don't like having 3 soon to be UFA's going into the season.

So we need to include all that when the competing offer includes only Herro and 2 1sts?
Also, we just signed Schroder so don't think he's even allowed to be traded until Dec/Jan.
Barnes + Boucher + Expirings of Thad + Porter + Flynn is more than a fair trade. Just need Dame to say he'd be OK with the trade before we trade our best young player.
You're right about Schroder - can't be moved till Dc 15.
Why do you think that's what the Heat's offer is? Just curious....last I read there was some chatter of a Heat offer that includes 3-4 future first-round picks, expiring contracts, second-round picks, draft swaps, and a young player (Jaime Jaquez Jr. or Nikola Jovic). That's a lot imo and I'm assuming the Heat are getting picks from trading Herro and some undesirable contract.
I don't see Portland taking your offer though, maybe. I think Barnes is highly valued with Masai and the player to move will be Pascal.
The media has spinned it like the Heat offer is garbage because everyone is butt hurt that Lillard wants to go to the Heat. They’re giving up a lot of value and frankly Miami is the only contender that can give up the assets they’re looking for. Every other team it doesn’t really make sense.

Those are low crappy picks. The same variety we were offered for OG. If anything espn has been in the forefront of polishing this turd proposal.

Not to mention the best player Miami is offering has no use for Portland. The only reason why Miami is being mentioned is because Dame is trying to strong-arm Portland.

As you should.
Not a good idea.

You don’t usually get lottery picks back from a team trading for an allstar because the team is going to be good for a while and has no incentive to tank. Even then Portland would be getting picks in and swaps starting 3 years out when Dame and Jimmy will be 36 and 37. Any team getting Dame knows that they’re pretty much getting a two year window because age starts to kick in. That’s why most teams don’t see any value trading all of their assets for him because he’s not they’re not in the position to turn into a contender. Portland would also be getting two recent young picks, expiring contracts and whatever picks and assets they get from a third team acquiring Herro. Put forward another trade proposal from a contender that will give them that much value and where it still makes sense for the team trading for Dame to gut their roster and assets. You won’t, that’s why it’s pretty laughable that people act like Miami is insulting Portland.

His people leaked to Shams he’s not interested in Toronto. Still don’t know why dudes here hold out hope we can trade for or sign a star player. No one wants to come here. We got Kawhi as a rental before he dipped. We need to build through the draft.

Or go after non Americans. I have no doubt that guys like Luka/Giannis/Jokic would have 0 issues being here.

The NBA has to do something about this. You can't have players making 40+ million dollars a year and not report to camp just because they didn't get to play for their favorite team. My opinion of Lillard has dropped a lot over the summer.

Maybe Masai is lowkey working OT to try to get him here and Dame is leaking news that he doesnt want to be here without saying it himself.

The news on Dame not reporting to camp for any team that trades for him besides Miami makes me appreciate Kawhi even more. Dude never wanted to be here, but showed up like a professional and helped us win a god damn championship!
