If I'm GS, I'd be looking hard at Norm Powell as a possible alternative, who can be nabbed at a reasonable price with their trade exception. He's nowhere near Klay's level, but may be just enough for a team looking to be a title contender.

How does it make sense from our end? Why trade Norman Powell? What are we gaining exactly?

He's going to be one of our main players going into next season

The general basketball fan in me wants to see Powell get an opportunity to solidify himself as a starting SG somewhere. I think he can be great if given the chance.

The Raptors fan in me wants, though, doesn't think he'll be around in the long-term and it may be best to maximize what we can get back.

We're not a rebuilding team. Makes no sense for us to give away one of our core pieces for next season just to maximize assets. I'm sure Masai and Bobby know what they're doing

Didn't draft a pg
Fred about to get maxed

That's why the smart thing to do is usually the opposite of anything the Knicks do.

Leon Rose actually sounds like a competent GM. I'd be surprised if they really maxed out FVV. It's a definite overpayment

I doubt it's a max, but in the 25mill range where the raps need to actually give it some thought I can surely see happening.
He's exactly the type of pg Thibs would like too

Only way I trade him is if it's part of a bigger package which involves us getting an Upgrade back. Or else it makes no sense

Raps need to start stockpiling assets again at some point. I would consider dealing him and Lowry this year if we can bring back a collection of picks.

Joke franchise lol. First they try to trade him and fail at it and then they just waive him

I know he's washed, but I've always liked Taj Gibson who was just waived. Could be a solid depth piece for the minimum.

Anything over 22 million I'm fully out on Fred. I think Malachi will be the better player any way. Better floater and mid-range game, quicker with more shake.

Golden State is looking down the Barrel of a rebuild.

It's a really good option for them. Steph is great, but man, he's not superstar top 5 great.

They should trade Steph + figure out the situation with Klay.

Also, I wonder if Klay Thompson is on the market and we can get him for a quarter on the dollar?

Warriors just got a TPE for Klay. I doubt they can trade him now i think.
raf1995 wrote:I just don’t think he has that kind of potential. I think we will regret not trading him for a haul in a few years when he’s a mid-tier starter with nice playmaking and defense and a shaky jumper.

Only 1 mil next year guranteed.
It's basically expiring for expiring deal. Roster balance deal.

Ilyasova and Gibson are both pretty trash.

The guy I want in a possible Vet Min is Jeff Green. Versatile thick body Player who can guard multiple positions and has range.

Im afraid he might command more than just the Vet Min though

I’d sign Ersan, can kind of shoot and kind of defend. I’d take him over Pat Paterson that’s forsure

I feel like running it back with our core guys doesn't get us over the hump. Yeah, we had a great season and was "an average Siakam" away from ECF but everyone else in our conference got stronger.

We need to make a roster improvement, whether that's S&T FVV or a package for a superstar. FVV/OG/Norm for Beal or Harden?
