If Malachi can shoot reliably, he'd be in the rotation already. This season will be make or break for him with us.

Not just with us, maybe for his career period in the NBA.

Development happens in big steps sometimes but sometimes happens more gradually and it is not their teammates or coaches (who all want Scottie to succeed and can also see his great potential) that are hindering him. Patience.

I think most Raptor fans don't expect All Star in season 2, but do want him to have signs he's going in that direction and higher.

A boost to his efficiency in scoring, mainly FTs and a 2-4% increase in 3P% shouldn't be too much of an ask.

I think Barnes is capable of being an 80% FT shooter, he shot 80% in the playoffs, however we'll see.

I'm expecting a larger spike in FT% then in 3p%. Maybe his FG% drops slightly, but hopefully not.

The only thing that stops Barnes from being a superstar is health. He literally checks every box.
not strong, only aggresive cuz the power ain't directed/ that's why, we are subjected to the will of the oppressive

Just to play a bit of devil’s advocate ..he is active online playing video games a lot. Most players in that mold tend to not reach superstar status just based on what ive seen.

I don’t really think it will hinder him tbh but just adding some balanced critique. Yea im reaching but hey..

Some of the most common negative effects of video games include:

Poor sleep hygiene.
Physical health atrophy.
Exhaustion.
Dehydration.
Obesity and heart problems.
Aggression.
Lack of motivation.
Depression.

However I don’t think all people are effected equally by certain things, some people can function better than others with addictions.

For Scottie i think it’s just something attributed to his personality and not really an addiction, like some guys go to the club often..some play video games a lot.

Every box ? I think a lack of a first step can hold him back. Not saying that it will but it's defintely a box unchecked.

I dunno man. I am at the top of my field in real life and I smoke lots of weed and watch lots of sports and spend too much time on the internet. I also work really hard when it comes to getting things done and generally manage my time well. Can’t judge the guy just cuz he does what every young man of his generation does. Based on his body and skill improvements, not to mention his schedule of games he’s played, my guess is he’s a guy who works really hard.

I don’t think his first step is much of an issue tbh. He makes up for it with his strength and massive shoulders.

i'm pretty sure lots of nba players game a lot. the reality is that nba players have a lot of free time, especially during the off season. i think the big difference between scottie and others is that he livestreams himself playing so it's public knowledge and others don't really. that applies to training too, scottie often posts videos of himself but it doesn't mean he's working out less or more than others, he just advertises when he does and others don't.

scottie seems to really like marketing himself with his constant streaming, filming workouts, documentaries, etc. and i think it would be really cool to see him collaborate with ryan reynolds.

What is this theory based on?! lol

Did LeBron, KD & Embiid not become superstars?!

Note this one is from 7 years ago...

You think all these guys know their 2k rating because they don't play the game?! lol I've heard countless players talking about how they play 2K...there's zero correlation and I would think it's actually a positive that even in their free time they're still using their minds in some capacity towards processing or some minor way of participating in bball.

Also as you said yourself this seems like a MUCH healthier habit than say what *ahem* Harden does with his free time lol. I mean really he's seen training all the time & participating in just about every Summer Run known to man which kills "devil's advocate" theory you just cooked up about him considering he seems more engrossed in various bball activities than most are seen doing lol or maybe what is more MUCH likely the case is Scottie just shares more about his life online than others do...

I mean you almost kill your own argument by pointing out him doing this instead of going to the club. His days seem fairly jampacked with various bball activities, so he goes home & plays videogames....what else should he be doing that would prove to you a different mentality, play all day then straight to bed?! lol Some of you guys really expect too much for players to "prove" something to you...turns out they're still human too.

Bro I think you’re misinterpreting playing occasionally with playing habitually. I play video games moderately myself.

However there are people who are addicted to video games.

Regardless, my point was more theoretical or hypothetical than truth. I don’t really think Scottie has a problematic gaming habit that could be said for say, Ben Simmons.

Scottie Barnes is really good. I saw him in person yesterday and he looks way better than his rookie season. He look like he did versus the Lakers. All he needs to be a star is to recognize his advantages and consistently assert himself. I honest believe that's it - along with gradual improvements to his handle, shot and strength/athleticism is all he needs.

Is Scottie streaming 24/7 or something? I think it’s a bit unfair to extrapolate that to constantly playing. I’d imagine he’s way too busy to play more then a couple of hours here and there throughout the week.
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars

Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.
