Obviously George is a very good athlete with handles, looks good on defense when he dials in and has the ability to develop a variety of go-to moves on offense. We all want a star player who can cook opponents 1v1 but we need to have the *right* player to be that guy, not just the first guy who pops up as available who can do some flashy things but ultimately fails to make the ball go through the bucket at a rate that will help us be a championship team and who demonstrates poor shot selection frequently.

Another stat that is eye opening is that against ranked opponents this year he's shooting 32.9% from the field.

The fact that his court vision probably isn't good enough to look at him as a true PG right now means he is a combo guard and I just can't pull the trigger on a guy who is supposed to be able to score the ball as his bread and butter right now having such horrible percentages.

Think people, myself included are just desperate for any semblance of a hooper lol.

I'm just so tired of watching ugly basketball in terms of aesthetics.

Everyone's game on our roster makes me wanna vomit.

OG not the Raptors' second-best scorer, as stated here. Fred is. Then Gary. I agree that picking Walker doesn't address a position of need -- despite the (usual) wisdom of choosing the BPA -- and creates more positional duplication, though an OG trade would lessen that. But the FO's bungling of two recent drafts cost the team Desmond Bane and Walker Kessler, both at positions of need.

More Edey propaganda. Plenty of "gimme the damn rock" moments, thats what you want to see.

the problem with the 6'9 lineup wasn't their height, it was their shooting and defense. and not really playing a full 6'9 lineup at all since fred/gary are out there like 90% of the time. making any real case for and against based on this season is foolishness.

walker is shooting 38% from 3 and has tremendously better on-ball skills compared to OG. His defense is also very good. He could easily fit next to Precious/Pascal/Scottie.

I see him sneaking into 21-26 range. not even listed in some mocks, 6'5 combo guards are what I really want on this roster.

No you're right. Just like people in general, they form an identity in the late teens and 20s. Some can evolve over time. For example, Lebron still isn't a great shooter. Ben Simmons can't shoot a 3. Shaq couldn't hit FT. etc.

Your exceptions are correct but have to look at what caused the exception. Was the player hurt? Did the player have bad coaching and wasn't allowed to play their game? OR did a team rely too much on a certain player but they would do better with a more defined role? Do they need a chacne to show untapped potential - Kris Murray showing out this year? Were they simply ignored before and suddenly they are being noticed? Kawhi was always a defensive specialist that could score, rebound. He went to the perfect team for him (two teams actually) - improved his percentages and became special. Bradley Beal similar - typical shooting guard that can score multiple levels, decent defender who improved his percentages and became special.

I feel the same as you about George. His stats worry me. I feel the same as another poster about Baylor's program. They've had really good players but they don't really develop them, but that's a bias. Keyonte would have to land in the right situation and have the will to improve his percentages to become special. IF he doesn't improve then he will bust. He's not a tall SG like Dick. He has pass potential but he's not a combo guard. He's a little pudgy. Not explosive. The potential as a strong scorer is there but more needs to go right to meet that potential.

An example of you are who you are. Aaron Nesmith was a pure shooter in college. Didn't get much run in Boston, goes to Indiana and is becoming an assassin again. Can we make George better and can he fit? Even though I like him, I think there will be better options.

With all this talk about big Centres, how do we feel about Ryan Kalkbrenner? He has some Brook Lopez in him

A little thin, just scores at rim although at solid rate. Average mobility. No shooting. Not high on him.

I guess there's a reason he's a 2nd rounder, but I think the jumper can be developed just like Lopez. The form is good. He blocks shots at a high rate and has a good post game.

Unfortunately, he doesn't.

I like Walker a lot. But he doesn't fit with our current roster, even after an OG trade. Pascal and Scottie are both PFs, neither are Cs. If we plan to move Pascal AND OG, that's a different story.

Although we shouldn't be picking for fit anyway. But still

I don't know about that. But, if Jarace is the best player on the board, take him! He's just straight-up a good basketball player. He plays with such poise and smarts. He's super versatile and has dutifully played center at both IMG and Houston without complaint, despite obviously having more to his game. People are really selling him short in terms of potential. I obviously want a playmaker on this team, but I'd be upset if we reached for a position of need this high up in the draft.

Plus, I think there's a far higher chance that a player like Walker holds his value than a more one-dimensional prospect in the same range (eg Gradey, George, etc.)

Just my opinion, I see a ton of soft players in the league right now. Aside from talent, this draft has some serious physical style players in it. Don't underestimate that aspect, lots of players wilt under that pressure in big moments.

If the Raptors haven't changed their team building vision there's no way they ignore Anthony Black since he is like Dalano Banton's redheaded step brother who is taking steroids and adderall.

Do you know who guarded Edey and was the last person since Marcus Camby to put up 25 pts and 5 blks against the AP #1 AND got the win? Senior, Trace Jackson-Davis!

Wow he's really developed. 3.2 blks to 1.7 fouls. He just doesn't shoot 3's but damn. He's like Jaylin Williams that developed well in 2 years.

Ha ha. Well I sort of disagree with this. I really liked Black earlier this year but I expected more from him. If he can be our Josh Giddey he would be perfect but his percentages could be better and he needs to show up more in big games / crunch time. Plus Banton has been not good this year, he would have to be on steroids and adderall to be good. Come on Tony - show us what you got.

I wonder where he goes in the draft. If he has a big tournament it'll be interesting to see if he gets picked first round.

I can see a team taking a flier on him with a second or him going undrafted. If he drops or goes undrafted, I hope we try to get him. Not sure I'd use a first on him though.

Return to Toronto Raptors
