So one team will get desperate to stay relevant in the west. Lakers will have Lebron demanding a trade and Mavs would have Luka demand one. So this scenario may make our return on Fred higher than initially thought because west will get even harder to compete in the playoffs.

This was my initial thought. The west is close, before you had reports that Memphis and New Orleans were playing chicken hoping the other wouldnt add OG so they could continue a cozy rebuild with no pressure to trade future for win now. If Kyrie goes to the Lakers or the Suns, a west coast arms race is just as likely as anything else. Can Griz, Pels, Mavs and Lakers ask Ja, Zion, Luka or Lebron to wait a couple of years to contend, because they wont give up some future to stay competitive in the most competitive field in a decade?

Looks like OG talks cooled down or at a standstill. Could be a combination of Kyrie wanting out and Raps price is too high, or just the weekend.

Only OG trade odds dropped in DraftKings, Fred and Gary the same. Kyrie now highest:
https://sportsbook.draftkings.com/leagues/basketball/nba?category=trade-deadline

Kyrie -500
OG -300 (previously -500)
Fred -280 (same)
Gary -250 (same)

Do you really think bettors are really that more clued in than anyone else?

No I don't but the odds are a high level way of seeing the trends.

Weren't Vegas odds what hinted that we were getting Kawhi? They clearly have some intel into what's going on

Eh, nobody trading for Russ cares whether he's healthy or not. Raps would just waive him immediately.

Not a chance, the raptors would try to sell as many jerseys as possible

I'd see if we can slide in here and offer Trent, who is younger and better than Beasley, for Fournier and a pair of 1sts.

They can keep Toppin in this deal as well.

Right. The odds aren't random guesses. Lines are set accordingly based on media/insider info/betters/etc. It's not absolute, that's for sure, but it's not complete bogus either.

Rap acquire:
Deandre Ayton

Suns acquire:
FVV
Jakob Poeltl

Spurs acquire:
Thad Young
Koloko
Suns 2023 FRP
Raps 2025 SRP

Suns get two huge additions that should improve both their PG and C position. Raps get their long-term C. Spurs get a first and plus Koloko and a SRP. Not a bad haul for Poeltl.

The trade looks good but it would make more sense to replace FVV with Pascal in that trade. Can't have a frontline of Ayton-Barnes-Pascal.

I think Phoenix would love to get Pascal, but it would be too radical of Toronto to trade a guy they were so invested in. I just don't think they have the heart for a radical teardown.

I would keep P for the rest of the year and see how it plays out. Easy enough to deal Pascal in the offseason. Could be a big draft day trade when all the picks are settled.

I might just stand pat and see if KD hits the trade block this summer for real.
If anyone wants to balk this time about including Scottie in such a package just think back to how awful this season has played out.
Even if Scottie hits his potential he isn't KD.
Raps already missed the boat on Mitchell and SGA. Our guys are great but none of them are #1 alphas on a real contender.
Watch FVV and GTJ run back to play with KD. Does anyone really think FVV wants to play on a rebuilding team such as ORL? Are they willing to pay Siakam, FVV, and KD for the chance at another Kawhi type magical season?

Barnes+OG+Boucher+salary filler for KD + Royce. I draw the line at including the '23 pick. They can have a future FRP if it's a deal breaker.

Let's get that 2nd championship for the North.

I would rather overpay a younger Ayton than FVV. And for a team like the Raptors, fixating on not overpaying players and not using up our salary cap space is a little overrated. Sure it’s not good business sense to go into the luxury tax for a mediocre team but it’s not like we are attracting even half decent free agents to come here and take our money even if we had open cap space to work with. To attract anyone here even by chance, we have had to over-pay (talking about guys like Dermare Carrol, Jason Kapono, etc). To keep our guys here, we have had to overpay somewhat as well. Making good trades, nailing our draft picks, and internal player development, has been how we have stayed competitive.

I guess Ayton would be like the Hawks paying John Collins and trading him later.

Suns had to match to re-sign him at a higher figure rather than lose him for nothing. I think they would like to move on from Ayton because of his weird personality - got into it with coach and teammates a bunch of times.

Raps have worked with difficult personalities and could feature him more so maybe it works out. Ayton would have to agree to the trade Toronto so that is the biggest question because he can veto anything.

Don’t think anyone cares if westbrick gets injured before a potential trade. So he might really be out with a sickness.

So if Fred and Trent walk in the summer your ready to just play a team of Siakam and KD?

2 years of KD versus 15 years of Scottie... Not a difficult decision for me, I'd hold onto Scottie.
