As long as the player plays for a team outside of the US, the mainstream media will have a hard time having vested interest in them.
ESPN doesnt even acknowledge the biggest international sports stars in soccer.

A pro scout who has seen Barnes multiple times already this season says his performance and the fire with which he’s playing has been eye-popping.

“What stands out? Everything!” the scout said via text.

“He’s a whole different player. He’s bigger and stronger but hasn’t lost any of his mobility or agility. His shot is much, much smoother and in better balance. And most importantly he’s hungrier. He seems to be on some kind of mission.”

There is no better example than his fourth quarter against the Spurs. Barnes — like the rest of his teammates — was having a sub-par afternoon to that point. The Raptors had trailed by as many as 22 points and started the fourth quarter down 15. Barnes was 3-of-12 from the floor, 2-of-6 from three and was on his way to a pretty 'blah' afternoon.

But he wasn't having that.

"We needed a spark," he said. "I knew I needed to start doing something."

But but according to a few in here i thought its just because noones in his way? No obstacles?? He was this guy last year too?!

Lol.

Good article.

He wouldn't even get the opportunity to do something, because someone else would not pass him the ball to even try last year

No one with half a brain is taking Mobley, JJJ, Lamelo, Garland, or Cade over Scottie. This is next level stupidity lol.

I'm not seeing why Banchero would be higher either, this whole list is ultra questionable at best.

After a step back from his Rookie of the Year campaign in 2021-22, Barnes is off to a strong start to his third season that could vault him up future lists.

Meanwhile he's basically putting up the best stats out of anyone on that list, outside of Maxey/Ant.

I agree Scottie over everyone you listed. I would take Scottie's potential over Chet too but that might be just me. I can see them having Zion rated higher since this is a list about "potential only" but in reality I don't see how anyone wouldn't take Scottie. Wouldn't surprise me if Zion is out of the league in 5 years.

Whats the count of possessions for him? I honestly can't recall many instances where he is ISOing.

As much as he's struggling, you do have to wonder if we'd be better off running Pascal with the bench unit and letting him go to work.

I don't know where you got this from, on NBA.com Siakam isn't even listed. However it's worth noting, Scottie actually has the 4th highest FG%, he's just turned it over alot in isolation.

13 according to nba.com but they do not include passes I think?

Need at least 10 ISOs to show up. Siakam must have less

So yeah, wasn't around to post for the last game. Obviously a great game overall, apart from his continuing mediocrity at the FT line. Another barrage from 3 and some outstanding rebounding at either end. Excellent on D. Perhaps somewhat surprising scoringgiven his first three whole-ass quarters. Then he went absolutely HAM in the 4th, dayum.

I'm sure it's been brought up before but Scottie is the only player this season that is averaging at least 20 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocks.

And he's shooting 42% from 3 on 5 attempts per game? Unreal.

Have we seen a jump like this before? Vince the only example?

Pascal year 3 was a crazy jump, but he wasn't as dominant as Scottie. 23, 10 and 5 on these splits are superstar numbers.

Pascal went from 7, 5 and 4 with 1 steal and 0.5 blocks on 50%fg and 22%3fg to 17, 7 and 3, 1 steal and 1 block on 54%fg and 37%3fg.

His shooting numbers have to stabilize at some point. If they don't, he's a top 10 player in the league, especially when you take into account both sides of the ball.

I think a really successful season would be something like 20/10/6/2/1 with shooting splits of 50/35/80 on his current shooting volumes.

If Scottie is actually a 40+% 3 point shooter on 5+ attempts per game he's probably making at least 3rd team all nba with a good chance at 2nd team.

40%+ with 20/10/6/2/1? Third team?Second team? If our team is in the playoffs with him having those numbers he's all NBA first teamer by a landslide

I mean you have Embiid/Luka/Curry/Joker/Tatum all playing at an insanely high level. That's not even including guys like Giannis/SGA/KD/Booker. All-NBA is tougher than ever I don't see any way Scottie beats out those guys for first team even if his shooting sticks.

When was the last time someone had those numbers while shooting 40% on threes? It's unprecedented, matter of fact those number qualify him as an MVP candidate. He essentially becomes Larry Bird with more defense if he keeps this up for the whole season, but highly doubt it.
