Re: Tank World Order V (Rise of the Phoenix)
It’s not that easy to find a replacement for Poeltl. He’s on a good contract and is just entering his prime. Add a lottery pick next year and this team should be positioned well for the future. IQ is going to be out a bit longer and this team continues to lose. If RJ continues to have this kind of usage and inefficiency then this team isn’t going to win many games. We can be in a good spot in that we don’t need to move anyone to lose games.
Keep Poeltl unless there is an amazing offer.

Re: Tank World Order V (Rise of the Phoenix)
Philly's next 6 games are important for the standings as they can pick up some wins.
Magic x 2, Hornets x 2, Bulls, and Pistons.
Need them to win some games so they don't think about tanking. But if they do lose some, at least it's other teams we want to get wins too.

They've blown a bunch of 50-50 games as is and that was with all the injuries to guys like Scottie and this is without vets like Brown/Kelly, who could be moved. So it's not hard to envision that they could play themselves into play-in contention, especially when these other teams like the Nets/Bulls start their big sell-offs in kind.
I think a lot of frustration should be better reserved to a terrible Eastern conference as that's the real reason why they'd even be competing for a play-in despite a possibly terrible record in the end.
Trying to juggle losing and good player development isn't easy at all though I think they've threaded that needle pretty well so far.
Right now I'm just wondering who they can flip Dlo to if they deal Yak to the Lakers for a future 1st.
I quoted this a bunch last year, and it's still relevant this year.
"I think the good teams win even when they play bad, and bad teams always find a way to lose games, even when they’re up."

Props TZ!

Nah, this is a bit weasley because if they won even a few more games people would be freaking out in the other direction that they're winning too much. The've literally only won 5 out of 20 as is and it's happening.
They're threading the needle as best they can right now but it's never enough. Philly/New Orleans will eventually rise above us and hopefully that will calm folk down.

5-15 after 20 is not a bad spot to be in.
I still think Philly works it's way out of the top spot with wins leaving us in a 5 team block of worse teams.

Charlotte embracing the tank. Meanwhile we got team compete desperate for meaningless wins.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

It's hard to betray SRS, so we're closer to 7th worst at the moment with Scottie's return marking an overall upward trajectory.
But go ahead and celebrate Charlotte's team building approach, again

Imagine ignoring other success stories. OKC, Spurs, Houston now . . .

My point is that we lose those close games and don't have those extra couple of wins, because we aren't a good team.
Folks have used the teams net rating as some example as to why we arent actually this bad and we should have a better record etc. But at the end of the day, we lose these close games in the clutch, not cause we couldn't keep them or make them close in general. Unforced errors, bad shots etc. We are who we thought we were.
It's not a criticism one way or the other, but rather the reality of the situation, we aren't a good team with 2 or 3 extra wins. thankfully the team is not getting those wins, we need this loss cushion as other teams get their injuries or come back down to earth.

Props TZ!

I predicted an 18 win season. We’re slightly ahead of that but anything less than 25 is an amazing outcome.

This place is insufferable.

I'm posting in the tank thread which has a theme of finishing low as possible.

Ya, they are also leading Atlanta 70-69 who has beaten the Cavs twice.
Yay, Paul George is back!

I guess Sarr is just shooting horrible. Maybe right now he's weak Tyson Chandler than shoots too many 3's?
Washington has 1.5 more tanks to go before possibly ascending like the Spurs. I guess will get a top 5 pick this draft and praying for Dybansta or Boozer in 2026.
PG Carrington
SG Bilal
SF Dybansta
PF Flagg
C Sarr

Rockets went out and signed Fred and Brooks. Before that they won like 21 games.
OKC’s best player was acquired through a trade not the draft. If Kawhi doesn’t choose LAC, OKC is sitting with a core of Williams and injured Chet.
Spurs are 10-9.
