Ilyasova and Gibson are both pretty trash.

The guy I want in a possible Vet Min is Jeff Green. Versatile thick body Player who can guard multiple positions and has range.

Im afraid he might command more than just the Vet Min though

mhmmm?

Lmfaoooo. Bruh I just mean he got size, athletism, and mobility to guard multiple postions

He played really well and is probably going to get the MLE from some team.

https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2020/11/hawks-to-waive-khyri-thomas.html?fv-home=true&post-id=184263

I wouldn't mind adding Khyri Thomas to the G-League. He was a better prospect than Jalen Harris when he was drafted and i think still can develop.

NBA Comparison: Jrue Holiday

Strengths: Late blooming shooting guard with a picture perfect shooting stroke … Undersized at 6’3 for the two position but has a 6’10 wingspan allowing him to play bigger … Very controlled game, stays on balance, won’t rattle easily, doesn’t bite on fakes, composed, mature game … Shows a lot of determination and competitiveness … Adept in iso situations. Hunts shots … Shows excellent hesitation moves and knows how to free himself for looks … Utilizes crossovers and stop and start dribble moves well to freeze defenders or get them off balance … Composed defensive player who anticipates well and generally doesn’t gamble or overplay passing lanes … Uses his big wingspan well to disrupt opponents looks and passing lanes … Hits nearly two 3s per game on a very solid 38% clip … A career college 40% three point shooter … His length gives him additional time and space for looks … Quality decision maker, showing a value for possessions … Solid a/to efficiency at 3 to 1.7, however more comfortable playing at the 2 position … Comfortable handling the ball in traffic and creating offense for himself … Very strong frame, excellent body strength to complete drives and not get knocked off his path by bigger opponents … Quality free throw shooter, showing improvement each season … Good rebounder for a guard, though his rebounding has curiously fallen off from his sophomore to junior seasons (5.8 to 4.1) … Very good midrange game, and understands how to post up a smaller defender and make plays around the basket … Doesn’t often settle for bad looks … Gets feet set quickly. Stays on balance and has good form with follow through … Good touch around the rim … Finishes well after contact … Has developed a tear drop that he utilizes to finish over bigmen in the paint … Solid drive and dish player … Uses his body well to screen off the defenders for shots and getting a body into shot blockers …

Weaknesses: The age of a senior. Turns 22 in May giving him less upside compared with most of the other prospects available for this year’s draft. Likely cannot afford to wait another season to enter draft … Not adept as a facilitator/ball handler in pick and roll situations … A solid athlete with good efficiency in transition, however he lacks elite explosiveness … Could be more aggressive taking the ball to the basket and drawing contact and free throw opportunities … At times seems too content to park in the corner and look for catch and shoot opportunities … May struggle to free himself against bigger and better athletes as he lacks a great first step … Solid passer though not a player that necessarily creates open looks for others with his passing … Appears to be more of a 2 foot jumper making him a little less fluid in finishing on the break … Could improve upon his ability to set up defenders running them off of screeens and staying more active off the ball …

Memphis has a great front office. Last night they ended up with Desmond Bane, Xavier Tillman and Killian Tillie and they started the night without a first round pick. They basically took a swing on all the prospects I had rated as first round picks and it stings a bit.

I really like Malachi Flynn and Jalen Harris, but look at how well Memphis has done since the Gasol trade: They did a mini-tank that ended up with JJJ and Ja Morant in two drafts, plus Brandon Clarke

They got Justise Winslow for an old vet.

And now they have Bane, Tillie and Tillman.

Toronto should look at the mini-tank this year as this is the draft to do it. If we don't re-sign Ibaka and the Knicks put in a crazy offer for FVV, then trading Lowry for picks is a great option.

Let Toronto play the young guys for a year and end up with a great pick. Then sign a free agent in 2021 if you feel the team is close.

Yeah I would be cool with JaMychal Green. No idea what a fair contract is for a player like him. He was one of the few Clipper players I could cheer for.

2021 draft is legit, super on board with a mini tank.

That’s contingent on Lowry staying because he should be a raptors lifer. And Lowry, siakam, OG with nurse coaching probably wins you about 40 games so tanking would be tough. But for a chance at Cade with BJ Boston, and Jalen Johnson as contingency opens we’d be better served long term to probably try and get into the top 4 ish of this draft

We'd have to absolutely obliterate our roster to successfully tank. You saw what Nurse did this year with all the injuries. Guess we are suffering from success 8-)

depends
If both FVV and Ibaka walk, we have apx $17M cap space, plus can use room exemption ($4.5 max 2 years)

If one or both FVV/Ibaka resign we will operate as over the cap team and have the MLE ($9.4 max 4 years)

No way we minitank. We literally can't do it. You guys underestimate how crappy half the league is. We're going to have to get creative if we want to improve because I can't see us getting a stud through the draft or free agency next summer.

2022 and 2023 are great drafts too. We should collect assets and cash in at the right time. Staying competitive is the right move

So with Serge likely leaving, and myself hoping that Gasol is done, what are we going to do at 5? I don't think we need to grab 2 centres as I think we unlocked an interesting look in the playoffs going small with OG at the 5. Is Aron Baynes realistic for the MLE? Doesn't feel like a lot of good options if Serge or Marc walk.

I could see the Raptors buying low on Jahlil Okafor if Chris Finch has confidence in his potential. For a backup big he would at least give us some size if we go with an unorthodox starting lineup.
He looked decent last year from the little I saw of him.

We all know Biyombo is going to be back on an affordable 1 year deal to be a back up centre.

The Raptors have had success in keeping their stars, but they need to start attracting free agents | The Star

.... All of their tremendous growth over the past six seasons or so has come from their ability to find gems in the draft or after it (VanVleet, Pascal Siakam, OG Anunoby) or in trades (Kawhi Leonard, Gasol) and not by buying talent. Rondae Hollis-Jefferson was a bit piece, Stanley Johnson was a sunk cost: Toronto’s pure free-agent moves have not been earth-shaking.

And the way the East is shaping up today — consider at least two of Toronto, Milwaukee, Boston, Brooklyn, Philadelphia and Miami will lose in the second round of the playoffs — something close to earth-shaking might be necessary.

There’s no reason to think that Webster and president Masai Ujiri won’t be up to the task but all their wonderful ability to find and nurture young players does not mean anything in the coming season. They need players. Good players. Players who can make a difference. It’s matter of the team’s leadership being able to pull it off.

It would make sense for them to make hard-sell calls on players like Clippers power forward Montrezl Harrell, Oklahoma City forward Danilo Gallinari and Chicago point guard Kris Dunn. They might not be affordable and some might having their sights set elsewhere, but that’s the kind of depth upgrade the Raptors need to stay where they are.

How do they do it? It will take some persuasion and financial legerdemain to do it but Ujiri, Webster and the team’s number crunchers are likely up to the task.

Salary cap rules mean Toronto is likely to have the mid-level exception of about $9.2 million (all figures US) and the biannual exception of about $3.7 million to offer free agents. That doesn’t seem like a ton of money for the top-shelf talent but there aren’t many teams with substantial cap room and most of the ones that do are years away from legitimate contention.

Toronto’s track record of winning and organizational consistency might give them an edge. And if a player the Raptors really want gets in a room with Ujiri, coach Nick Nurse and a potential teammate or two, their powers of persuasion should be substantial.

Return to Toronto Raptors
