Just watch all the idiots that hated on him flip flop when the Spurs make a player out of him.

Bro you wanted him at 13

Yup, I'm not phased by that.

Just like I bet right now that at least 2 players, if not more picked after Dick will be better than him. There are plenty of times that a 2nd rounder have ended up better than someone 10-15, is it common ofc not and it shouldn't be. I'm not saying Sidy will, I think he had to land in a place that would not only develop him as SA hopefully will where I believe he will be seen as a steal a couple years down the line as he moves more into the rotation. But had he landed here and we shown that level of faith in him and he got more playing time early on. I think he would've shown that potential earlier that I think people are only going to catch on to in a year or two when Pops does allow him more minutes. So it will be an unfair fight & comparison...

As we have definitely selected Gradey with a clear NEED in mind, so he will be getting of playing time out the gate. It won't be a fair comparison so it will be easy to be cocky about guys entering different circumstances. However I had been saying that I prefer we draft Bufkin or Whitmore when we were on the clock which is what you can most hold me to because that's who I'm on record when it's live & happening saying I wanted and if you would like to hold a bet that Gradey will be a better player long term than both, I more than welcome it lol

8 years and counting since last draft day deal of any significance involving picks.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

They can become role players and that’s not valueless

I do think you missed the word practically. Sure, the odd one will hit. As the draft is now in the 40s, here is the number to hit with the team that drafted them in the past few years. For the more recent years, I lowered the standards for a hit since it hasn't been too long yet.

2020: None
2019: Terrance Mann
2018: None
2017: Monte Morris
2016: Georges Niang
2015: Pat Connaughton, Norm Powell, Josh Richardson
2014: Jordan Clarkson, Nikola Jokic

So they’re not valueless. Even a 10% chance of a pick being a contributor means they have value

The reason for their low value is that percentage weighed against roster space. Teams just don’t have the space to take unlimited chances. Often you’re better off continuing to work on the back bench players you already have development time invested in.

Is Terq Smith as a UDFA a possibility? That would be awesome. Seems to have gone under the radar, but he's a great shooter and has a lot of game offensively

Sure that’s a valid point but most teams (including us) have a G league affiliate. We could develop players through that

That’s what we did with guys like Pascal, Fred, Norm

Bruce Brown was drafted by Detroit, gone in two years. Vanderbilt played 18 games for his first team. Melton played half a season. None of those are hits by the team making the draft pick.

Irrelevant, they ended up good players. Trades happen all the time.

Yeah, completely disagree. Care to explain how buying a pick and then buying out that player is a good move? Like this just doesn't make any sense.

I'm not opposed to buying a pick, if the team had unlimited money, but given that the Raptors do not have unlimited money, I certainly think that money can be better used elsewhere. If it were a good strategy, don't you think teams like Phoenix would buy tons of picks? They seem to have unlimited money and no depth. Or are they dumb too?

I’m convinced now TJD is telling teams not to draft him. He has a team in mind as a UDFA. Hope it’s us

I disagree, he is a guy I would be happy to take with a second rounder. I missed, who are you still hoping for?

He’s a terrible shot chucker

At this point the only guy left I want is Trayce Jackson Davis

I would just give him some sort of undrafted contract, no clue how they work lol

He already said he'd like to play here. I could see him playing that 6th man role Gary doesn't want and he'd literally be a fraction of the cost but I'm with Bruin that I'd rather grab TJD if possible because he just seems like a player.

Maybe sign him to Summer League deal and see how he does

The way bobby talked in that interview it sounds like they're upset they got screwed by OKC over Wallace.

Said things like "yeah you know, we'll see how it plays out over the next few years" didn't seem happy or excited about Gradey at all, just "yeah we had him in that range and we need shooting and he can't really stay with the super athletic guys on defense but by now he probably knows how to play against them" blah blah blah
