Try finding a GM who thinks that Toronto made a good move by taking Bruno Caboclo with the 20th pick. It’s virtually impossible. It’s not that scouts didn’t know about Caboclo, a 6-9 Brazilian forward. “Don’t even know if he’s a second-rounder,” said one personnel man who studied Caboclo on tape.

I wonder what everyone would be saying had the Spurs picked him with their 1st rounder........

I'd like to think that NBA personnel know what they're doing but I have way to much evidence to prove the opposite, so them doubting our selection does little to deter my opinion. Ginobli was barely a second rounder too, and the same goes for Calderon who was found by Babcock's staff which says a lot. But I guess if they're right it'll be a change for once. Let them keep doubting and we'll just try to develop the kid and see what we have.

First post here. I am from Brazil, so I saw something about Caboclo.

One thing that was not cited, so I don´t know if you are aware: Scott Machado is Brazilian´s son and speaks portuguese fluently, so he should help Bruno in D-league (as De Colo and Lucas Bebe, just traded from Hawks).

Well, it helps a lot in my opinion. Bruno having a good support for adaptation is a really nice move from Raptors.

Also, a Brasilian blogger told a eastern NBA team was agreed to draft Bruno - one week before the draft - and he suggested that it could be Raptors:

Despite, the decision to keep his name at draft list matches with a rumour that this blog heard more than one month ago, that he was promised to an eastern NBA franchise, from a playoff team. Made 7 blocks. His record at Development League.
