My only concern with Barnes is that he actually looks really slow out there. Given how everyone was clamoring about how athletic he is during the draft, it's been underwhelming to see

This is a concern for me as well. His lateral quicks compared to a guy like OG is just not there. They gotta lean him out if they want him to play guard
Everything else he has impressed me.

I think he's hurt, I think ankle or such. he was much faster in game 2. but rolled his ankle and it looked it may have been bothering him this game too.

His speed is fine, he has been clearly told not to force it..Go back to that last Precious 3 @71-87 that Scottie pretty much created : A slow player cannot move like that. His agility is "different" at that size.

idk man, if bums are looking him off like, "nah we aren't passing to you" NBA players are going to think the same lol
I think that everyone focusing on the scoring #s (which is directly related to usage) is ignoring the impact Barnes is having on the court despite not touching the ball a whole lot.
5 blocks, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal in 23 minutes is impressive.
We didn't draft Scottie to be the #1 option, people need to get that through their heads. We drafted him to be an elite level, AK47 esque player. Which if we end up with someone like Andrei Kirilenko at the 4th overall pick... good!
The debate and question is whether you believe Suggs can be that #1 or #2 option player. Our front office clearly didn't think so.
And I wanted Suggs, but I'm saying at least come at him in the proper way of criticizing and recognize WHY he was drafted.

When it comes time to play in the NBA none of yall be saying any of this **** and he's gonna get exposed hard. Scottie's strengths right now is size and court vision. This was a reach of a #4 pick in a deep draft.
ok. cool story bruh

Let's put it this way...if his usage goes up and he ends up with solid but inefficient numbers...the haters will be on him for being a bust because he horribly inefficient just like some people are jumping all over Kuminga having inefficient scoring right now ignoring the fact that Kuminga is 18 years old still and Scottie just turned 20 two weeks ago.
There is no positive narrative to be had no matter what Scottie does...for some people around here.

Is it just me or does Sengun look quite slow out there? His foot work and spin will get him baskets every night, but he is going to be exposed on defense once he plays against NBA players. Precious surely did.

Banton is a perimeter jump shot away from being a really really good find. He already plays great defense, can run the point in short stretches. If he can even start hitting the corner 3s...

This is why I wasn't sold on him in the draft. He's small and slow, which is a dangerous combination for a big.

I am surprised to say that OG and pascal may actually have a higher overall ceiling than scottie

Pascal has already hit his ceiling and this season will probably mark OG's ceiling. They are 27 and 24.

Very possible. But remember what we were saying about OG in his rookie season. Super mechanical, can't dribble, can't shoot...
Sounds familiar.
I think Scottie has a better base level talent than OG. People develop...I guess it's just how much burnes within Scottie to get better.

No, Barnes' ceiling is really high. It's not a clear path for him to get there, but if he does, I don't think there is much of a comparison.

It's going to be his 5th NBA season. I'm not going to expect any significant development beyond that point.

This sequence is Lowryesque.
Forces the jump as the help defender...smartly controls the tip...sprints and catches the defense off guard then hits both his free throws. Could have easily been a highlight dunk with a freethrow.
This is 3 winning plays back to back to back.

Just watched the recording of the game after missing the live version last night. Apart from the obvious, I was impressed by Banton and Wainwright. A 6'9" point guard who can see over the defense and make decent passes will make Banton a great G-league player. Not sure who he'd displace from the Raptors' bench yet. He also takes it to the rim (over people, not under like FVV and Flynn). He kind of looks like all arms and legs, but has good energy. Wainwright is also making a case for the bench. Shows the maturity that you'd expect from a 26-year old playing with kids in summer league, and he's big enough to hold his own in the NBA. That game would have beaten GS the night before.

Interesting take. Do you have any proof that NBA players usually plateau after 5 NBA seasons? We would like to read that.
