I'm not an advocate one way or the other regarding trading a pick, but definitely think we would trade a FRP for the 'right player'... and said player does not have to be a true star, rather a Poetle type.

Having said that, I'll make a friendly bet with you. I'm on the side of us moving a FRP this trade deadline. Wager is simple - I obv dont know you, but if stars align in the future and we're at the same game, loser buys other a drink.

In all candour, I actually think theres only a 30-35% chance we move a FRP.. we're more likely to deal Dragic with a second for some minor bench help + hopefully a contract that can be moved again later.

My favorite speculation from SI is that we could use Dragic plus draft capital to get Harrison Barnes. That feels a bit too good to be true. But we do like our wings and he would add even more quality to the team.

Noel and Burks is totally fine. Don’t really think there should be picks going either way but could see us throwing in a second because other contenders may be trying to nab Burks as well.

Simmons-Harden makes too much sense.

Harden is a fantastic fit for Philly. Gives them exactly what they need.

And as much as I think Simmons is super overrated....I can't imagine a much better situation for him than playing with Durant, Kyrie, both handling the ball and shooting way more than him, and even with shooters like Mills and Harris to ensure that Simmons can basically play inside on offense, and become their primary defensive stopper all over the court.

He would basically become their starting center I think. He'll be their Scottie.

Current Kings roster needs some one who can shoot 3s from their 4 spot, Barnes is perfect for that role. Otherwise they zero shooters in their starting 5

I can't see us trading Boucher and Khem

I'd do this. Khem has been a non-factor for us most of the year.

Boucher hurts, but with Turner in the lineup we won't need Boucher as much.

This trade literally accomplishes everything everyone has been asking for, while not touching the core. Remember:

Endowment effect: We tend to value what we have more than other people do. You probably value some of your favourite team’s assets more than the market.

The golden rule: Ask yourself: if you were a fan of the other team, would you be excited about the proposal?

Gotta follow the rules

If I were a Pacers fan I wouldn't mind the trade. If you can market it as getting prospect (flynn), cap space (dragic/boucher expiring), and 2 picks? Not a bad a return for a rebuilding team!

Too bad Rose got injured. He would have been nice off the bench. I wonder how many picks it would take for them to move RJ.

Mitchell Robinson - come on down.

Chasing players who get hunted all the time on defense and you can't play in the playoffs is not the way to go even if he is a lights out shooter.

Not every player in the rotation can be elite defensively. Teams pick on Fred all the time in the post because of his height, does that mean we should not play him?

Obviously if our management thinks Heild would be a lost cause in our defensive system then it wouldn't make too much sense. I just feel his shooting is exactly what this team needs off the bench if his price is just Dragic and a pick.

This trade would make us immediate championship contenders with our entire core all under 28 years of age. Please let this happen lol.

Sucks that Malcolm Brogdan can’t be traded he would be a perfect fit as our 6th man and would really level us up

Fred is actually a good defender while Hield has never ever been passable at any point in his career. Getting players who can't play in the playoffs and who make 20 mill/year is not how the raptors operate.
If you can't guard then you won't play.

I just look at guys like Flynn and Yuta not having roles while Barnes, Siakam, OK, and Precious have all the SF/PF minutes locked up for the short and long term. If we actually draft the best player available, there's a decent chance we have no role for the kid. Using the pick with guys like Flynn or Boucher to lock in a player we love who fits with our core could make a lot of sense. The right Boucher deal could actually save us a lot of long term money too since we will have to pay or replace him next season.

Lol. We pretty much agree then.

Just knowing how Masai operates, we like flexibility ... moving our FRP and then losing in 1st round which is very possible, would just make it more difficult to improve... since we use the draft better than any team creating known commodities in the market place. That's just how we operate. OG, Norm, Delon, etc

There is not a single contender in the NBA that doesn't have at least one player worse than Hield defensively, and he's consistently one of the best volume shooters, which isn't easy to do in this league. His contract is a bad fit for the Raptors, unfortunately. They need shooting, but not at that price and for that long term.

Why wouldn't Hield be able to play in the playoffs? Don't make stuff up. The Heat went to the Finals with Duncan Robinson and Tyler Herro getting heavy minutes. If the Raptors can't build a team that can't compensate for one weak defender, they have a highly flawed team anyway. I don't want Hield, but your argument is a strange one.

Honestly, if we could somehow keep Boucher, then it would be very difficult to disagree with the post there  .

I would be stunned if the Raps made a play for Hield. He's a complete sieve defensively and no where near good enough offensively to make up for it; plus he's owed ~20 mill thru 2024.

I only see Masai moving a FRP for Turner or Poeltl

Return to Toronto Raptors
