That's a good comparison. A 6 foot 7 Peja.

Let me tell you as a Kansas fan, he didn’t even look this good in college. This has been eye-opening.

I am not hating on Dick and never did, but Indiana is rank the worse defensive team in the league.

On draft night, I had him as GTJ/Korver type with better rebounding who will average 16-18pts in his 3rd year.

I’m pretty shocked at how good he’s been looking. What an incredible turnaround.

Beautiful to watch. With more on ball duty and just more strength and experience he's going to be a great player. Watching him and Scottie grow together is going to be something to witness.

This is what got me about the early criticism. He clearly knows how to play. Passing, cuts etc. it was literally just his shot not falling.

You could see the potential

Even when he couldn’t make a shot early on he always seemed to make the right play. It was only a matter of time before his shot came around.

I am not hating on Dick nor said he is a bust, but Indiana is rank the worse defensive team in the league. I didnt call him a bust and posted here that he was only 19-20 yrs old.

On draft night, I had him as GTJ/Korver type with better rebounding who will average 16-18pts in his 3rd year.

I think you underestimated him.

Part of the thing in Kansas is that Bill Self's offence leaves a lot to be desired. So Gradey was never able to play with this much freedom and fluidity there. Darko's system and green light have really opened up more of his game.

At KU, there were the 3's (that if you miss as a freshman, you get yanked) and some leak out/fast break plays. But him consistently drawing guys and then getting right to the rim or hitting the cutter for the easy 2? Not so much.

The role and freedom he has here is really activating his multilevel game and basketball IQ.

Dick was absolutely neglected in Kansas' offense last year. I watched entire games where their veteran players would just ignore him and he'd just stand and watch them go at it for most of the game.

Would love to see those averages, but 18ppg from Korver and 18ppg from GTJ are very different

One takes shots in and out the offence and throws up heat checks for the sake of it, doesn't move the ball and really is a feast or famine type of offensive player who should be coming off the bench and go back there after he's missed 2 in a row.

The other has high bball IQ, finds his shots within the flow of the offence, makes the correct reads and passes to open up the floor for his team mates (even if it's not a direct assist), is consistent with his shot and doesn't hurt the team offensively even when his shot is not falling.

If Dick is more of the latter, then we have a massive rebuilding piece suddenly in our hands.

Nah if you watched him play in the G League he looked as bad as Jalen McDaniels. He’s a totally different player now.

I watched him play in the NBA and he was doing similar things to what he's doing now, the biggest difference is that now the shot is falling. I didn't need to watch him on a terrible G League team in a league that caters to ball hogs.

Exactly, he was always doing these things, shot just wasn’t falling. Gradey isn’t a player suited for the G-League. It’s a horrible brand of basketball.

Then he might reach 3rd in ROY voting ahead of Brandon Miller!

OMG, he's already shooting better than Brandon Miller NOW!

I've been saying it since summer league...he sees the game well. The basketball IQ is apparent. That save under the baseline that became an assist was so clutch.

To be honest, I’m not surprised with how he’s playing—this is who I saw in summer league and preseason—I’m just surprised at how fast he’s gotten here.

That said, when we drafted him I didn’t think he was this good. Wanted Keyonte George. But looking back, that would have been foolish. I think we picked the best player at our draft position.

Same. I thought that meant a lack of ability but it clearly was just a system that didn’t let him shine.

People were already going to count out a 19/20 year old. Have to give these youngsters at least 3 seasons before you really know what you are going to get.
