The S&T was in fact announced on Monday and many subsequent reports have come out also, almost all of them saying that Dragic and Achiuwa were the princple pieces coming back to Toronto. If you are choosing to ignore the reports that have come out all week, that's your problem. The info WAS out there from the Shams and Wojs and Steins and Fishers.

You wanting to hear something else doesn't mean these things weren't said all over the internet.

The official package was never tweeted out by the Woj and Shams. That’s the entire point. That’s why everyone was still waiting on the official announcement. There were mixed reports of what the deal is. In fact, the contract for Lowry was originally reported as 3 years 90 million and it ended up being 85 million which ended the idea of KZ being involved

It was rumored to be Precious and Dragic but that’s all it was, rumor. There was speculation of a pick or KZ being involved and nobody knew what was happening since Woj and Shams never tweeted the actual S&T deal. Idk what makes you think that the details were 100% announced prior to today

Dude, I never said they were 100% announced. NO DEAL BY ANY TEAM WAS 100% ANNOUNCED until today.

You're asking for the impossible and griping because of this misguided request. It's an irrational thing to take a stance on.

The fact is that there was absolutely enough media discussion on the matter for everyone to know that the Heat were giving us Dragic and Achiuwa. Whether we do something additional with Dragic is up to us and needn't be announced as part of the Lowry deal. Miami has no part in that once we agreed what we were willing to take from them. This stuff happens literally every offseason and by multiple teams, so it's frustrating to no end when people get their panties in a bunch over things that are known to happen.

Yes, nothing was 100% announced but other deals had the details tweeted out by Woj and Shams prior to today. That’s literally all I’m saying

Lets be real. We arent getting anything worthwhile for this guy.

Nobody is gonna part with prospects. Best we see if another overpaid, about to be over the hill player.

I want to give him the Iggy treatment and tell him to stay home. Not because he is a bad player, but I do not want him eating up 25-30mpg that could go to the young guards to develop.

slightly underwhelmed by the return. I was hoping for another asset but having Dragic is helpful also.
We dont' have any players over 30. We need vets. He'll be good for leadership. He won't fetch much even if he's traded at the deadline though.

Dragic tweeted a few days ago that he knew he was involved but not whether a third team was.

Which young guard is he taking 25-30 mpg from?

Dragic / Flynn
FVV / GTJ
OG / Barnes / Watanabe
Siakam / Boucher
Birch / Achiuwa / Gillespie

Banton and Johnson should be playing in the G-League.

If we can’t get value for Dragic now, keep him until the deadline and let him run point. FVV can play as a shooter off-ball. He must carry some value as a mentor too: being a savvy, experienced vet. Good for the young guys hearing from another voice outside of FVV and Siakam, who are the only real vets in the playing group.

Love our organization, didn't pull the trigger on crap return. Wait it out and trade him during the deadline or let him walk

I understand that the Raptors are thin at the guard spots, but I would like to see VanVleet/GTJ/Flynn/Barnes/Johnson getting the bulk of the minutes at the positions. The Raptors are not winning anything next year, so why waste valuable development minutes on a 1 year rental that is a 35 year old outsider

I ask this in all seriousness... How do you increase the trade value of 35yr old on 19.5m expiring deal? I think the league kinda has a pretty good grasp on what Dragic is, no?

I am pretty sure the league knows what they are getting with Dragic. If anything he will come back a step slower and decrease what little value he has. He is sticking out like a sore thumb to me when I look at the roster.

Dragic was always a nightmare. Solid player and good value around the league. Have patience. No harm in it. Didnt understand narrative on this board we had to trade him just for instant gratification - something i thought this board would have learned by now

I agree. Dragic can still play. Give him touches let him stat pad, trade him to highest bidder at the deadline. Lots of teams can use a veteran guard like him in the playoffs.

by getting more bidders into the game; dragic value stays same but demand might increase.

what if la clippers need an upgrade on pat bev
what if 76ers come calling again for a point guard
what if celtics flop out of gate with no true pg
what if nuggets decide after a slow start a stop gap pg is necessary until murry gets back
dallas mavs have a bad start to season
pleicans/twolves/other team look for a veteran after a surprising start.

His contract is a problem to move.

in a world where russell westbrook gets moved 3 times, the "most obvious of course he will pick up the option; might as write it in stone" CP3 declining it;
no contract is a problem to move

Comparing Dragic to HOF players post prime does not really make any sense. Dragic is a 35 year old bench guard making 19M.

Ive been playing around with Trade checker the past week with our expiring vets and there are some interesting trade scenarios with contending teams depending on whether we want serviceable young players or bad contracts and picks/prospects.

Return to Toronto Raptors
