The MLSE sources said Rogers wanted Bell and Tanenbaum to agree to a complex and potentially contentious plan that would see Rogers Communications take its 37.5-per-cent stake in MLSE (which owns the Raptors, Toronto Maple Leafs, Argos, Toronto FC and other teams), and combine it with the Toronto Blue Jays to create a separate company.

Jesus. I know we all figured there were a lot of moving parts with Masai's deal, with 2 giant telcoms at the table and all. But I didn't think one of them would be making a play involving like 5 different sports teams and completely restructuring the partnership.

Who has given heat to Larry T? I need names... I will fight them right now.

Forget Lowry.... forget Masai... LT is easily the unquestionable GROAT. Bar none. Full stop.

How so? All canadian Media are left wing socialist puppets of the Liberal government ... there is not one paper in canada that is objective and balanced ... and I am Liberal, lol

Not exactly.

I'd like to know more and dive into the details on that mix-up in the article: not only did he consider Masai as being arrogant, but after he showed up incidentally, with his driver and videographer, Ed Rogers mistook them both for bodyguards?

Um, what?

Risking being grossly unfair (I have no clue what his driver and videographer look like) could it be that Ed Rogers just couldn't handle black men in business casual without blowing a fuse?

I'd like to know more.

You're going to Muskoka business meeting with key ownership (the boss) accompanied by a videographer? C'mon, that's a little unusual.

Rogers is a product of Canadian protectionism under the banner of an "organized economy". People can seethe at Rogers and Bell all they want but it's wasted anger - ultimately we're living in a commonwealth country that pretends it's a free market society but in reality, it's an old-boys club that has produced a closed market for each other that span the corporate and political.

It's no different in any other western country but in Canada, we're just more blatant about it.

Larry T is 75 years old. When he’s gone we’re left with whomever is running these POS incompetent telcos to run this team. Enjoy Masai while you can people. We’re heading back to the good old Richard Peddie days at some point.

Also F**K Rogers.

Know what else is unusual? Some rich Whitt entitled douche bag who hasn’t worked a day in his life and is loving off Daddy’s money assuming that they were “bodyguards” instead of just introducing himself (like he would have if they were white) and determining who they actually were.

By all accounts Edwards Rogers is pretty scummy.

Come to think of it, I remember Ed Rogers trying to snake Alex Anthopolous and Paul Beeston behind their backs, and while under contract too.....

That would be Alex whose new team is in the World Series.

This stuff is bad for the Raptors but even worse for the Jays where Rogers is the sole owner.
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

So the videographer was recording everything for what reason? Both sides of the story make little sense. And he thought the guy with the camera was a bodyguard? For hours or more than one day considering its in Muskoka? Doesn't add up.

OK, simple enough. Close all Rogers accounts.

Screw them.

It was for his charity projects. No one said he recorded anything, just that he was there tagging along (as they were going to the airport after), which seems likely given the amount of things he does outside the Raptors.

Is this the "piling on Ed Rogers" thread? Watch the Ring Ceremony and look at George Cope and Larry Tanenbaum act all jovial and friendly with the Raptors Organization. But look at the interactions between Ed Rogers and the Players, their is some serious awkwardness:

I'm a big fan of Tim too.. definitely underappreciated and in the top 10 GROAT discussion (as is Bitove for that amtter).

But lets be clear, there is only 1 GROAT, and thats LArry T.

For me, there is a huge drop off from 1 to 2, and 2 to the rest of the field....

1. Larry T

2. Masai

3-10: Clustered together in no particular order, I can make a case for any of these guys for varying reasons (Bitove, Lowry, VC, Isiah, DeRozan, Tim L, Peddie)

Unfortunately, Rogers is the only decent internet option for my neighborhood. Bell doesn't have fast enough service, and independent ISPs are not price competitive.
