WAY better second half. Potential is there for this team - kind of happy we didn't win in the end. Hopefully the team looks at this loss as a wake-up call that we're not going to just be able to come into Asia and dominate due to our "NBA talent".

Final thoughts:

- Dort was by far the best player. Needs to start.
- NAW looked good too. Like the energy he brought on defence and his shooting.
- Re: Shai, I'm not out yet on him being our best player, the only thing that appears to potentially be an issue for him is the physicality. He's never relied on athleticism however the amount of contact that the refs allowed today really messes with his craftiness as the defender doesn't have to be worried as much about fouling him. Less room for him to operate.

That game was a perfect example of why these warm up games are so important. These guys need actual game time to learn how to play together and get used to the reffing and different style of play in international ball.

As the game went on though, I thought Canada got more used to the increased physicality and started performing better. They still need to stop playing for the whistle so much on offence though. A few more of these warm up games and they'll get the message.

The battle down the stretch between Canada's bench and Germany's starters was fun, although I would have liked to see the Scrubb brothers do a little more. They were pretty invisible and ineffective out there for the two guys with the most international experience on the team.

The player who will probably have to adjust his game the most is SGA. He's still our most talented and skilled player (along with Murray), but he lived at the free throw line last year at almost 11 attempts per game. That's not going to fly in the international game. He'll need to adjust.

The guy who might benefit more from the increased physicality is probably Dort. I'd actually like to see him used more as the primary point of attack defender, as he seemed to cause problems for Germany every time down the court that he was used in that role.

We win that if we don't bench the starters

Boris Diaw-Riffiod was NICE with the Suns though.

The Hawks actually had him playing the Point God spot his rookie year. That was mad wild

Then he ate a lot of croissants in San Antonio.

Still destroyed. I always wanted him on those Colangelo euro teams.

why would we, when we had the [13 game] "Il Mago ", aka The Bargs experience?

Diaw on that team would've been fun

For those who say we are fine without Murray....he's our only 3 level scorer and a knock down shooter at that. I just don't see this squad can consistently making shots allowing team to pack the paint and limit SGA's driving game.

So wait is Jamal Murray out of the World Cup?

I thought he was playing but it doesn't appear he made the trip to Germany. Any update?

Omg Google is a thing, it's not even news that came out just before the game.

I bet you could type Jamal Murray Canada Basketball and have a couple articles explaining the situation.

Wow you added so much great value to the conversation!

For the record, Google gives a very unclear explanation of what is happening. I am asking this in the game thread because the most recent information would come out during the game. Quit being a doofus.

Bruh if you can type that post you can Google it. Hell I just did right now and it's literally news articles explaining it in the headline.

It's not like wondering what the box score was like today, where God knows how to find it. What, is he going to ask us what the weather is today in his location next?
