They drafted 5 busts. Horrendous draft

No idea what the team had planned.

Great game by Scottie. RJ continues to look.extremely confident out there. I think he is going to have a great season. The block, then dunk was amazing. His defense on Porter near the end of the game was clutch as well.

RJ has made strides. Especially on the defensive end. Jack Armstrong pointed it out as well.

I remember some posters on here claiming he couldn’t & wouldn’t improve because he was 24.

Lol and despite his limitations he is going to be our most consistent player for us this season.

Both of those guys are good prospects, media was hating because they had some preconceived notion that they were gonna trade some of their picks but they didn't. A rebuilding team not in controlof some of their picks should definitely be drafting all the players they can

I think the issue with the pushback from media/fans was that the Nets drafted 3 straight guards with their picks.

1 of them is 6'8, and the majority of players in their range were guards. They skipped on Jakciounus and Jase tho

Every time.I see the Raps live, I am surprised how.massive Scottie is
The dude is huge. He is really close to Mamu's height, but longer arms and biggee/ stronger.

I hope they play a lot of small ball lineups with him at the 5 this season. I think it makes sense to play Mamu at the 4 & Scottie at the 5 when they are on the floor together. Scottie is a better help defender & shot blocker.

Yup. Those who actually watch basketball will report that RJ's defence has improved and so has his 3 point shooting. He still is our most consistent down hill threat. Those who say he can't finish at the basket also are not watching basketball. Yes he smoked 2 layups...but otherwise...he is taking it hard for dunks for the most part.

I'm very curious to see how the RJ situation will play out. His aggressive play puts a lot of pressure on the defense, and he's very consistent.

It's a bit early for that isnt' it? Only Demin was high pick. He is the most important. As for the other we shall see.

Take a chance on some guys while staying bad for this draft is what I imagine. I was busy with other sports mostly but Demin looked alright on the offensive end from what I saw. 14 points, 5 rebounds an assist and a block. Not sure how he's a bust when the season hasn't even started. The other 4 were drafted starting #19 on. They took a swing. Since they have little to work with. Picks #19, 22, 26 and 27, if you get one of those picks it's a win. They really only swung for Demin. Maybe he helps sell seats for the time being if nothing else.

Or it's preseason?

People putting too much stock in pre season and tanking seasons ...

It’s been 4 years. How many years are you guys going give him as a pass?

Plenty of good players have been on tanking teams and haven’t regressed to the worst (ok, 2nd worst) volume scorer in the league.

And how are you going to say “too much stock in preseason” and then try and make your point off of a preseason game against one of the worst teams in the league? If the bad Barnes games mean nothing because it’s preseason then the good ones don’t mean anything either.

Ah yes. Disaster of 4 seasons.

One all star nod, one ROY.. terrible stuff.
Maybe I'm considering the actual overall team impacting a player's performance.

I know you love to put so much stocking taking seasons and preseason .. the narrative of some people.

Look if the guy bombs a season I'll be on board with accepting him as a high end Aaron Gordon as his likely ceiling..but I have hope.

Scottie cracking 30 points!???? Say what???
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars

Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

I’m surprised people are earnestly taking away actual things from this game.

The nets are too bad for me to take this game seriously in anyway or an indication of how we’ll be.

Can’t wait for the season to start and play meaningful games.

Was always of the view that he and BI will be our most consistent players in and out all season. No reason to change that view....

It builds momentum. Everyone showed out pretty well in the SL

Barnes was dominant.

Ingram passed and didn't hog the ball. He made the right plays.

RJ was consistent and efficient. A lot of 3s, played solid defense and passed well. He needs to be better for FT though.

IQ shot a high volume of threes and got 10+ assists.

Jak got a double double.

The next step is to have one of the bench guys be the 5th option in crunch time. I have a feeling this will be CMB, high IQ players in crunch time are always good.

looks like we'll have 2 pairs of
IQ Ingram n Jakob
Barnes RJ Mamu

Ochai + CMB with 1st group
GD + Shead/Walter the 2nd group
