There is one way to shorten the season but not eliminate games(or the money). Expand the rosters and create two seasons running concurrently. Basically dissolve the G league into the NBA. You can have a roster of around 22 and have an "nba elite" season of 60 games and another nba season of maybe 20-30 games ending in the nba cup happening some time in late Jan/early Feb. Players would be capped at playing no more than 65 games total between both levels. When a team goes to a city they would play a game at each level within 2 or 3 day period. Obviously pricing would reflect the difference in levels and only NBA elite games would be shown nationally. This way players would never play more than 3 games in a week. Anyway that's my rough idea.

Is that how the football league does it in Europe? Like regulation and what not?

I’m not sure don’t watch football but if it is at all similar than maybe this has a shot of happening because Silver seems to like how leagues in Europe structure their seasons. The g league has a tip off tournament and a regular season so I don’t think it is unrealistic he could split the season into seasons. But playing the seasons concurrently and branding them as different levels allows them to limit wear on players too.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

People are whining about pace when previous eras required your 6"2 point guard to drive 15+ times a night for And1s just to have a sensible offense. They all wrecked their knees. Meanwhile James Harden hasn't had to take a hard foul in 16 seasons and plays with a beer belly and he's exhibit A for how the game changed.

That's true. Imagine if LBJ was hit like Bird was. Would he have the same longevity? That said I think we can't discount the pace and defensive responsibilities players have now. It's a big ask. Especially for Centers.

Warriors are disgusting. Sitting:

Curry
Butler
Green
Horford
Kuminga

Of course it's against an East team, the Heat.

Players cannot sustain playing at this level without getting injured. It's inevitable and all the data points to it

Something will need to change in the future for schedule

I thought this can only be done for home games? They're probably going to take a fine like the Cavs.

That’s Adam Silver in a nutshell. He announces a new rule and then stops enforcing it after awhile.

The solution is to borrow from mlb. Play more than one game against an opponent when you travel to a city.

Toronto has already played @ Philly twice. Rather than have travel at the end of the first game and prior to the second, playing back to back eliminates 2 travels.

Provide a day off before and a day off after will get as many games in but less fatigue. Fatigue contributes to injury. It's stupid to play b2b in two different cities.

When Clippers and Lakers played in the same building, this already happened.

idk what to make of his statline. 52 points is a good achievement but rollins was no slouch in this game. It also went to OT against a Giannis less bucks. so not sure what the takeaway from that game would be

I feel like this would also make regular season games more closer to playoff-like, because you can see how teams adjust for the next game.

Cleveland played twice in Miami last week, on Monday and Wednesday. But since they also had a game against us on Thursday, thy sat Mitchell and Mobley for the 2nd game, which prompted that 100K fine. So some teams still have 1-2 instances of that, but it's not an objective for the league anymore and they are still messing it up.
