Vastly prefer Trae or Lamelo. Ja would hate our offensive system and he’s a terrible shooter.

Personally LaMelo is THE one “wild card” I would take a gamble on.

He’s an actual superstar talent that if you do somehow figure out how to get more control of, could take the franchise to a different level, not to mention make incredibly popular as a type of talent ppl want to tune into see.

You meant to say, "Ja would fit into our offensive system and he’s a terrible shooter.
Fixed it for you.

Yeah if i was gonna risk on a headcase/injury prone guard Lamelo would be the guy and could help our weaknesses. Ja is like an insanely terrible shooter, which regardless if he goes to like 34-36% (no guarantee) he wont get guarded like a shooter anyways. He also cant finish in the paint anymore?

Wed basically be trading on the hope Ja goes back to his 2022-23 form with us and was just tired of Memphis. Which like sure i guess it could happen. This is also assuming Ja can actually stay on the court lmao

Life comes at everyone fast. He was on top of the world where everyone "loved him" and was around him. Now that his stock has fallen, hes probably seen a lot of folks ditch him. Dudes only 26 years old and I guess is expressing himself via social media.

The timeline is interesting - during the time Darko was leaving Memphis, was the same time Ja went on IG with the guns.

People seriously using his stats this season as an indication of his ability when he’s obviously been phoning it in most of the season. Yeah it’s crappy and Vince doing it way back when makes it hit close to home but how about we be on the receiving end of that? I didn’t hear many Nets fans complaining about his 27.5 ppg post trade.

As for the durability concerns; we just did this all summer with Ingram. He’s been healthy *knock on wood* and came back pretty quickly from his hand injury. I think you can trust the medical staff by now.

The fit doesnt make sense on paper but Ja's such a talent upgrade over IQ that you make the trade if the price is as low as its being rumored. The current team is 1st round fodder so why not take the gamble on a player whos the same age with star potential. Worst case if it doesnt work, you trade Ja as an expiring contract for someone else.

At some point the "he's phoning it in" excuse is just that - an excuse for a guy who has demonstrably taken a dip in athleticism like he did last year, was already a very difficult player to build around as a hyper-athletic one-way guard and has more off-court baggage than a politician flying to Cancun. And even if you were to be generous in saying he's phoning it in, this is a guy who has only played over 70 games or the equivalent of such once in his entire career via the lockdown-shortened 2019/20 season.

He's played 77 games across the past 3 seasons.

77.

I am not against a buy-low opportunity to upgrade at the 1, 5 or even the 2/3 depending on if one thinks they can land a star SG (LaMelo is an interesting name for PG though he has arguably just as much stupid off-court nonsense as Morant and his ankles are also seemingly made out of glass) but for Ja? Who'll make our shooting issues (pun not intended) worse and is clearly on the decline?

Absolutely not.

Players in that D-Rose, Westbrook-like mold are notoriously difficult to win with as your PG (In fact I don't think any player in said mold has ever been the best player on a championship or even the 3rd best player on said title team) and once their athleticism isn't in the Top 1%, they fall off of a cliff. And yes, watching Ja play this year it's clear his first step is diminished compared to what he had even last year.

People underestimate how much improvement you get from a new environment for Ja. Also if Darko was instrumental to his development I think this could be a home run.

IQ, Dick, Ochai and a fist for Ja and Jock. We could use a back-up C that can shoot the 3 ball.

Would be great if we could get a Ty Jerome, but don’t have the salary without moving a Jak or RJ which wouldn’t make sense.

If Raps acquire Ja can we all agree his nickname has to be gun related.

Ja “Gunslinger” Morant

Or

Ja “The double fisting sheriff!” Morant

Would kiss Bobby if he got us Garland. I can’t stress how much of an upgrade he would be for our offence.
