Can a player win the MIP in the same season? He went from unfit to play in China to a more athletic prime klay Thompson.

A lot of all stars are all stars because of team success. If Dick ever makes it, he’ll be on a very good team.

Another we the north kiddie. I'm sure you thought Ujiri made a mistake with all the extensive scouting you did on Dick.

The league may not be able to handle all this Dick next year.

Luckily Darko has taken it slow with Dick. Earlier in the season he just tried to throw Dick in there but clearly it was too much too fast. It was nice to see him work his way back in nice and slow. But now with Dick having arrived and hitting the sweet spot, it's time for Darko to unleash Dick and really let Dick bring joy to all Raptors fans.

Dick has been our most exciting player lately. There is a flair to his game and he's constantly surprising you.
I think he's a future star. The way he finds creative solutions off broken plays in a split second is a special ability. That together with him finding his range has me really excited.

Just watched the Raptors nation game in short. The save on the baseline was awesome

Re: The Gradey Dick Thread Part 2
On the season, he's up to 44/38/92 shooting splits with a 58 TS.
But the most impressive part is his all-around game. The passing, rebounding, steals, movement with and without the ball, the cutting, the court awareness, all this is what separates him from just pure shooters. Even the defense has come around as he's keeping guys in front of him. Once he gets stronger, he's going to be damn a good player for a long time.

Re: The Gradey Dick Thread Part 2
He should be getting 30 minutes. Both Brown and GTJ need to play less.
All about the development of Barnes, Dick, Quickley and Barrett.Give them all 30+ and see where we at in 2 years

Re: The Gradey Dick Thread Part 2
Even when his shot was struggling, you could see he had good bball IQ.
But early on you could also see he looked a step behind, overwhelmed, nervous, and was 2nd guessing himself.
Now, he knows he can play in this league and can see it in his confidence. I was always a supporter and said this offseason he would be working his ass off to have an NBA career. Happy he has already done that and look forward to see what this offseason does for him.
People forget these guys are humans. He is from Kansas and played in Kansas. Then he gets drafted, has to leave home for the 1st time, and has to do so in a new country. It was a big shock to him and I think and even the telecasts pointed out that his parents came to lots of games which was unusual. Small town boy now in a big city!
We really needed him to turn things around as it's made a big difference in our depth and playstyle.
Will he be in a future 3 pt contest.....

Yup. He's been pigeon-holed as a shooter but there has always been much more to his game. I said in the PG thread, once his body catches up to his skills and mind, I'm not even going to try to guess a ceiling.

He needs to be the designated FT shooter on techs
Scottie Barnes in the last 16 games also has a great percentage:
FT ... 74-83 ... 89.2%
Scottie really is a reliable FT shooter, especially in crunch time. Next season or in year 3 as his body builds up, I’d like to see Gradey seek out contact to get to the line because he could be our best FT shooter since Jose Calderon, basically automatic. William Lou noted something I’ve seen too, Gradey’s shots don’t move the net much, he can hit the middle of the opening on a regular basis which is uncanny and Steph-like. Maybe he can give free throw shooting lessons to RJ who misses too many for a good forward.

It also seems like he’s well liked by his teammates so I guess you can assume he’s not a dick.

Only here. Only by the usual suspects.
The kid won Gatorade player of the year in HighSchool and if you look, that award has a long list of very impressive players beside its name. Complete players. He was great at Kansas as a freshman. And I thought he played well all year so far with the only trailing part being his early shooting, and finding the speed of the game.
The guy has some very real potential. Lets see how he does the when he hits his first slump and how he responds.
