40 seconds into this video.....Scottie Barnes could SHOOT in an open gym....CMB can't....Scotties jumpshot was NEVER broken like CMBs....

The mechanics aren't bad at all for Scottie, he really shouldn't be the brick layer that he is from 3.

I'm convinced they encouraged him to freestyle with above-the-break off-the-dribble jumpers this year. Those are superstar shots, that he's yet to find success with. they prob used last year as an opportunity for him to stretch his game (same with Gradey btw). I bet that if you tell him to only shoot them from the corners on kickouts, his percentages go up by a lot.

I think he'd probably go 2nd if he had a 3, but most likely 3rd.

If you think he's going to be able to shoot it at some point, he will be a steal where he's drafted.

I think he's going #2 and he's closer to #1 than #3. There would be discussion of him at #1 if he wasn't 18 months older than Flagg.

lmao let's not be silly

That would be the hope for next season, but I wouldn't say I'm too optimistic about it. I don't expect him to shoot 27% again but probably closer to 30% rather than mid 30's like we would hope.

Hey DH, can you give me a comparison with Johnathan mogbo who is longer/taller than CMB and is also a defence first pick? Is he that much better than mogbo who was drafted in the second round?

I wouldn’t be surprised if Raptors get him at 9 and auction him. I believe Atlanta is drooling for him.

Sounds like they would love to move up

My board focuses on those who provide significant value in terms of +30 min of PT and end-of-game situations.

1.  Flagg
2.  Harper
3. Johnson- Hoophead, excellent work ethic.
4.  Bailey- Possesses too much potential to overlook.
5.  Fears- Offers the best dribble penetration among the group.
6.  Knueppel
7.  Edgecombe
8.  C Bryant - His only notable weakness is attacking downhill.
9. CM Boyles - A dominant force within 18 feet and highly effective at drawing fouls.
10. N Essengue - A project prospect with impressive size.
11.Newell - End-of-game centre
12.Maluach
13. Jakucionis
14. Queen
15. Beringer- End-of-game centre
16. T Sorber
17. J Richardson
18. Demin
19. Wolf
20. Fleming

They are not taking KM even if Fears and Ace are off the board.

If the Nets take Denim before us I'd be ecstatic. He's on my do not draft list.

I think as this draft day comes closer we might end up all hyperfixating on team needs like back-up C, or drafting based on past history (i.e. lenghtly 3 and D forwards).

Dan Tolzman did say BPA is the way that they approach the draft. I kind of wonder if BPA once Maluach is gone could be Nolan Traore. If you think of Maluach as the most prized African player in the past few years, than you can also make a case for Nolan Traore for France. He has been in the French b-ball system since age 9 and he played pro ball and was running the offense at age 18. Guys who can get into the paint and pass like this are rare.

Washington taking KM at 6 would be dumb with names like ACE or Tre potentially still on the board, hometown kid in Queen. Putting Sarr at PF is meh, he's not Mobley & even they want Mobley at the 5 more.
If KM isn't there trade down for 2 picks

He's kinda suspect to me, too, but he is one of the few lotto picks that came to Toronto to work out. Maybe Brooklyn is flashing a threat to us that they're gonna take our guy if we don't cave on trading our #9.

Love the section with Coach Kevin Boyle (formerly Montverde). Interesting that he coached Scottie and RJ in his career.

He had very glowing things to say about Queen being a mini-Joker and a top five in the class in a few years talking about how his handle is almost like TJ McConnell for a big guy. This to me makes me think you need to give the ball to Queen to cook.

I kind of was more interested in what he said about Asa Newell. How he gives 100% on every drill and has such pride in his game that he thinks he will shoot it. Also interesting to note that Newell was all-academic. He is a pretty smart and hardworking kid with great athleticism. He could be a match-up problem if they have him as a C because if he develops a pick and pop game, then bigs who close on him will have a hard time if he drives on them. He see him as a 10 year pro type who will start.

I think in terms of BPM, it is lower but pretty close to Ja'Kobe Walter's (on the low end). Also think they had a similar early-season pedigree being considered top 5 picks. Numbers weren't great, obviously.

Might be worth noting that Kevin Pelton had Gradey 5th overall, Jakobe 6th overall, and this year has Demin 8th. We've liked a lot of guys that Pelton has liked in the past (had Jakob 4th, FVV 12th, Delon 11th, OG 10th). And we did bring him to Toronto.

Granted, this is based on limited information (watching scouting videos the last couple of months).

The pros: Size and good passing
The cons: Can't shoot, Poor Athleticism, Meh Defense.

I don't like drafting guys who's main skill is that they're a good passer but really can't do anything else.
