What's the difference between picking #9 or #15? I rather lose in the playoffs in the 1st round and pick 15 than be just like last year and pick 9

Yeah, Im not going to pretend Im supremely confident in our chances headed into the playoffs, should we qualify as an 8th seed.

Hopefully someone good drops in our draft range, thats all I can wish for.

Only a few losses from being completely out of play in.

we need to hope for a miracle like play in, 40 something wins and lottery luck like Orlando when they drafted Hardaway.

The 6th seed is unlikely, so play in. Washington and NYK are inept so play in.

Boston, Atlanta are fierce competitors who could finish above us. Charlotte could be behind at the end of the season. 8 or 9 seed is my guess so if we make the playoffs through the play in or not is anyone's guess. It's a coin flip.

Being really competitive while getting another lotto pick ultimately would actually be a great scenario for us.

More than half of Draymond's value comes from his defense and defensive IQ, which Barnes does not have. Offensively Barnes is better already than Draymond.

Barnes = Kawhi. We need to dream bigger - have higher ambitions!!

Posters comparing Barnes to Draymond are just FVV-enablers justifying their comparison of FVV to Steph Curry!!!

Aim for the sky but be realistic at the same time. Barnes is a great piece. I love his game. A legit #2 potential player imo if you're realistic.

#1s need to have iso skills. Playoff Kawhi had Jordan Iso skills. Barnes at this point, doesn't have the best handle, doesn't have lightening speed, doesn't have the best shot. his iso game is usually backing guys down and trying to jump hook w his size and long arms

Barnes needs to develop. He is way further than Kawhi when both entered the league though. Needs to work hard and sky is the limit.

Playoffs are not certain at all. Even if we win 45 games there is a strong chance for the play in.

Masai doesn't seem worried about it and he shouldn't be because he's been in this same position numerous times as an executive.

Appears as though they are playing to win because he believes in this core. If not, Nurse wouldn't be playing his starters so much.

Excited to see what deals they make at the deadline to improve this team's bench.

Yeah they are playing to win regular season games. My opinion ultimately means nothing but after winning a championship I thought we would be aiming higher.

I am also excited to see what we do at the deadline, we should get some clarity from the front office on the teams direction then.

Aiming higher is what they are doing. They've made it abundantly clear over the years that they don't want to just win one, they want to win a lot more than that.

I guess for many it’s about whether you believe in this core long term, and the way that relates to how we are going to get to real contention status.

Many in tWo just don’t think this core can get to contention level, and a year of play in followed by no major changes, likely means multiple years of essentially just being a play in team. That’s not to say tWo don’t love some of the core, but it seems clear the core kind of need a grade A talent inserted.

Maybe we see a major trade that changes things.

#9 last year was Davion Mitchell
#15 last year was Corey Kispert

So looks like there wasn't much after #8 Franz Wagner.

This year looks much deeper with more Jalen Green's and Kuminga's. :D

https://www.nbadraft.net/nba-mock-drafts/

#9 and later: Max Christie, Jaden Hardy, Keegan Murray, Shaeden Sharpe, AJ Griffin, Jalen Duren and Walker Kessler all look like they could've been drafted as high as Davion Mitchell if they were in this year's draft.

I guess it's kind of like when OKC Durant, Westbrook, Harden and Ibaka. They could've used just 1 more cheap rookie contract player and not cheaped out on Harden and maybe GS has ZERO recent rings?

https://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/OKC/draft.html

In 2010, they traded #18 Eric Bledsoe for a 2012 1st pick (which Fab Melo was picked but I think Boston had that?)
They had #21 and #26. If they had missed the playoffs just 1 more year they would've say picked #14 and maybe package #21 and #36 with it to move up to #9 Gordan Hayward or #10 Paul George.

We will certainly need it to make any noise and upsetting a top seed

I wonder what divides this board more:

Tanking

Or

FVV

They're linked. Even when FVV is shooting 6-20 he's still +17 and leading the team to a W. He's this constant reminder that you can't tank or win the title when he's your best guy.

Touche! A quote worth being stickied.

I don't really mind FVV to be honest. I just p'ss all over him when the tank is not going well.

It makes perfect sense. Without Fred this team would be in the lottery right now. Tankers would be rejoicing. He's public enemy number one because he's killing the tank and any hopes of it

We'll be picking 17-18 not 15. 8-15 range you have a good chance at picking someone that falls or overlooked. Lots of talent in this range over the years (Booker, Herro, Bam, Giannis, Kawhi, Paul George, Klay, etc).

Fred being the first option is a reminder of mediocrity. A team with limitations and an obvious cap to the potential of a squad. I think most people like Fred, just not the role he currently has.

You guys have a very unique way of showing how much you guys like Fred. If I liked a player I would certainly not call him trash or use derogatory terms to describe his height.

But also he’s frustrating at times, and people comment on that, and that’s ok, and that might have nothing to do with the direction of the team.
