My guess is Fred's fine with the 114 contract given he just canned his agent. That's an acceptable price if he's healthy next year.

Thats 30 mill for Fred.
Another 20-25 for GTJ
Another 30+ for OG next summer
Another 55-60 for Siakam after he gets the supermax
Precious is gonna want a raise too, and depending on play, will get anything from 10-20

We dont got Balmer on this squad. We cant keep everybody. We cant even keep the majority if we actually wanna be good and possibly contend for a title in a few years.

Assume we get team friendly contracts for Fred and GTJ. So, like 20 and 25 maybe. OG gets us the most assets back.

Personally... I do think Orlando is legitimately interested in VanVleet.

However, the Magic are going to be one of the few teams that can create the kind of cap space that it would take to offer FVV a contract he'd be willing to sign this summer.

So IMO there's virtually no chance the Magic are going to give up significant assets for a guy they could just potentially sign in 6 months or potentially lose to another team in 6 months too.

If the price is low/moderate, I think a deal could happen (same for GTJ). But if it goes beyond that low/moderate price tag, I think the Magic will just wait and instead look to chase in free agency.

I don't think that FVV or GTJ is a great fit for ORL.

More importantly, I don't think Orl is a great fit for either player.

They both want to get paid this summer and the Orl coach routinely has 10-11 man rotations.

Their playing time will go down to 28-30 minutes per game and their numbers will be negatively affected.

That does not make for a happy player.

Maybe if they already had their bag it would work.

ya thats still an easy decision. You absolutely risk that and try your hand at FVV in the summer vs trading strong assets for him. They might give up a lotto protected first and then let the chips fall where they may

Pretty hard to get 6 forwards over him honestly. You got Tatum and KD for sure and probably Lebron at this point who's turned it on for the past 15 games. After that, Siakam's a strong a contender for NBA 2nd team as anyone else (and theres 2 other spots if he gets bumped off of 2nd team)

And team wins hasnt historically been a big criteria for determining All-NBA

Don't get hung up on Suggs, he can't shoot or pass and the ball needs to be in his hands. Then you add injuries...he's cooked.

Look at how far Markelle Fultz has come with his assortment of issues. Suggs has the raw materials (size, athleticism, clutch shooting) of being a very good PG, he just needs time to learn how to manage the game.

Yup Suggs is supposed to be a Lowry type. People were down on Kyle after the draft too, it took him a while to turn it around and put it all together, partially due to limited opportunity. Maybe Suggs just needs a change of scenery. Also kind of like Lowry in that he is spending his early years in crowded backcourts. He could be a late bloomer too.

Just want you to know that the Magic are extremely high on Carter.

He is a 15/9/2.5 player (37% from 3) on 30 minutes per game.

He is also on maybe the best non-rookie contract in the league.

getting bird rights means nothing to them, that's the benefit of trading for him now. there is the bigger risk they give up assets for him and he still leaves.

you can also trade assets for him and lose him for nothing.

Considering FVV isnt getting the max, the Magic can offer him the same amount of money whether they hold his bird rights or not. Someone else getting him is a threat, and why they would move some assets for him. But having cap space is why they'd never trade anything significant. Im sure they'd like FVV, but this isnt exactly a "you have to strike" moment. This is a young team with a cornerstone in Banchero, another awesome young talent Wagner, with likely 2 lotto picks coming in this summer and cap space. Theyre in a great spot.

You might not want to move Fred if OG's gone. That's a lot of looks that open up.

But if we do, it would also make more sense to re-sign and move later when he's got more value.
