It's clearly us... we're getting Lillard folks.

All those trade offers that JRoy rejected will come to fruition lol.

Take out 1 1st round pick so it crushes JRoy a bit more :)

Take out Dick and the 2 first rounders. Plus Portland needs to add in 3 unprotected firsts and 3 pick swaps. Then it's a little bit closer to being fair, but still heavily in favour of Portland

I threw up a little in my mouth with the thought of Tyler Herro being anywhere near our team. What is with the Herro love affair?

He’s an elite shooter that can also act as a secondary playmaker. Herro’s an ideal buy low candidate and would actually help balance the roster. Raptors fans massively underrate players that aren’t on our team.

Career numbers:

Herro --- 601 for 1571 .381 3pt%
GTJ --- 657 for 1713 .384 3pt%

Herro is a better playmaker, but GTJ is the better defensive player. If there's an upgrade here, it's only marginal.

What's your idea of buy low, exactly? I keep hearing people say this but they never want to give anything of value for him. Miami isn't looking to give him away, they want assets in return.

Herro’s shooting has been trending up since his rookie season. The last two years he shot .378 and .399 from 3 compared to Gary who shot .369 and .383 over the last two years. It goes beyond just raw 3 point shooting because Gary is is really good in that respect as well.

However it goes beyond that. He’s near the top league in 3 point shooting metric.

And this isn’t a choice of Herro vs Gary. We can have both. You need to have shooting to win in the NBA and you can never have too much in the NBA. Thad, Boucher, Flynn, Porter Jr, Temple is 34 million in dead weight that should be traded. The Trailblazers want other assets instead of Herro, that’s the only reason we can even buy low in this case.

imho Raptors aren't getting Lillard but keep saying it so that JROY keeps coming back lmao

at this point, JRoy will be happy at any trade so the team can focus on the youth movement and drama Lillard created.

If there is some other team in the east trading for Dame, or trying to, it is probably Philly. They are the right kind of desperate to trade for him without him wanting to be there.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

I’d throw in a few 3rd round picks for safe measure.

What other eastern teams could it be?

Bucks - no
Celtics - Maybe, Brogon is not happy and it would have to be a deal with a lot of picks.
Sixers - Maybe in some kind of multiple 3 team James trade. They wanted to keep cap space .
Cavs - No
Nets. - Nets are a wild card. Would be a strange move.
Atlanta - No
Bulls - No
Pacers - No
Magic - no
Pistons - No
wizards - no
Knicks - no

I can see the 76ers and Knicks trying to make a play. 76ers don’t have much young assets though, but the Knicks might with guys like Barrett and Quickley.

Dame and Jalen Brunson wont be a great fit. I would not mind seeing the experiment but Brunson needs ball in his hands to be successful. Both are pretty short. Knicks need to wait and see what happens with Embiid.

Sixers makes the most sense imo. Like why wouldn't you want to team up Lillard and Embiid? That would give them the best duo in the EC, and up there with Jokic and Murray for best in league.

They have both Maxey and Harden to work with as trade bait.

It would have to be a 3 team trade, which makes it more complicated. Jrue would have to go to a third team. Bucks dont have control of their first round picks until 2028 and they dont have any young assets. Maybe you can make a case that owners would not want to take on his salary. Even if they wanted to it would be just hard to pull it off.

It is probably the Nets. Keep in mind, they don't control their own picks in the short term, so no incentive to lose. And for Portland, since they would be trading Dame to the Nets, they wouldn't want the Nets picks anyways, in the short term, because presumably Dame is going to help their performance.

I could see Simmons & O'Neal (non-guaranteed deal) being the salary going back, along with a few of those Suns picks. Simmons is negative value right now, but he only has two years left on his deal, so if he wants a sniff at a new contract, he is going to have to play and perform. So he should be very motivated. And if your the Blazers, you probably don't mind taking the risk, since they are not trying to win (if they are trading Dame). Simmons fills a need up front, and even potentially as a PG, running the offence.

But will Portland want another guard? Scottie is a much better for for them at forward. Maxey would only complicate Simon's, Sharpe, and scoot situation, causing a glut in the backcourt.
