I think we needa go for Turner right now....I know people are hesitant to give up a 1st round pick for him but how i look at Turner is....Hes 25 years old, Just about to hit his prime, And he will be in the Raptors system where we all know how good our management is at making players take the next steps....

Turner already an elite rim protector and Pacers never really gave him a chance to prove himself...He fits perfect with our core as well....For me its best outcome for us

I WAS all for Turner, but what about his foot injury? When is he projected to play? And stress fractures in the foot can be red flags.

I'd hate to get him then have to wait a month till he played.

Not every player in the rotation can be elite defensively. Teams pick on Fred all the time in the post because of his height, does that mean we should not play him?

Obviously if our management thinks Heild would be a lost cause in our defensive system then it wouldn't make too much sense. I just feel his shooting is exactly what this team needs off the bench if his price is just Dragic and a pick.

There is not a single contender in the NBA that doesn't have at least one player worse than Hield defensively, and he's consistently one of the best volume shooters, which isn't easy to do in this league. His contract is a bad fit for the Raptors, unfortunately. They need shooting, but not at that price and for that long term.

This is exactly why the Raps continue to "surprise" over teams with flashier offensive talent, tho.

Why would we give away that advantage?

Trust me, the Raptors can afford to play bad defensive players. Probably a couple, even. Once you start playing guys 40 minutes a night just to scrape out a win, those good defensive players become tired and play bad defense. Hield makes too much money, but he'll eventually make his way to good teams.

I'm with you, stress fractures in the foot are a HUGE red flag for any guy who's 6'11, 250. Ended many NBA careers and look at Zion, probably won't even play this year cause his fat ass can't put down a fork

I don't think that Masai gives a pick for Turner. A basis like this maybe:

Fournier, NY pick to Indy, Turner to us, Dragic to NY.

This makes sense to me. But Indy may not think it is enough compared to Levert and Sabonis trades.

Bulls took a risk and its payed off so far but it could have easily gone the other way for them. Remember, they sucked for years and wanted to make the playoffs desperately this season. We are in a different position. We are in year 1, yes looks like ahead of schedule but you still dont risk the future when you still need to add to the team and grow it. Raps just need to stay patient and continue to build through the draft and create real assets with better control and relatively cheap.

It would take a real difference maker for us to move our FRP this year. It's highly unlikely its going to happen and Bobby's comments cement this.

The next two years are our window with the current core of Pascal, OG, and Fred. The Raptors have been very successful drafting under Masai and Bobby but we can’t assume that our 2022 mid-to-late first round pick is going to have more value in 2 years than what someone like Turner might provide over those same years.

Barnes is ahead of schedule and Precious looks to have good potential but how much better can the core guys get? I’m not sure we can expect a lot more from Pascal, OG, and Fred because they are already very good. What we are seeing from GTJ might be close to his ceiling since his USG% can’t go much higher. Internal development is important but it can only boost the team’s trajectory so far. We need to add players who can address the issues at centre and with bench scoring now (and in the next 1-2 years).

Using our 2022 FRP to acquire someone like Turner doesn’t make us a championship contender but it definitely makes the roster more competitive for the ECF this year and it would become very clear what is needed in the offseason to maximize the team’s potential next year.

Raps arent dealing it. Not the right move for a bench guy with big money at this stage. The window just started (masai’s words) we are not feeling pressure to win it all this season.

We aren’t going to be championship contenders without a legit MVP calibre player - I think we learned that pretty clearly with Kawhi. Without that level of player our realistic competitive ceiling is the conference finals. Based on what Scottie and GTJ have shown it looks like this team is closer to that tier of competitiveness than we would have thought at the outset of the season.

If getting Turner requires the pick and you choose not to trade it then that means you we would have to address that hole in free agency. Who exactly?

Agreed, at the end of the game, I'd say he'd be a great offense/defense platooned player. He's hit quite a few clutch shots to win games. I'd like Trent, FVV, Hield, OG and Barnes on the court if they need a bucket.

Lol what hole? Starters are locked up. Go find a bench big somewhere else. You dont need to forfiet a FRP for one.

What you gotta show for it when we out in first round? Gotta build through the draft still like this team has already proven. Receipe has already been done.
