I'm surprised you like Harper since he has a multiyear history of subpar shooting. 8 dunks on 258 FGA, 27.7% on the dribble jumper and 71% from the line. FWIW Braden bitch slapped him and carved Rutgers' D to shreds.

I remember watching Braden Smith when watching Edey. He's improved. Is he now like a Tyler Kolek level prospect?

Do you think he'll go back for his senior year, like Kolek? I guess Braden's current junior year is at least as good as Kolek's senior year.

Could he be Payton Pritchard with more playmaking?

Brooklyn has #25 (Hou) and #26 (NY). I could see them taking him there. The should try to tank for Dybansta, Boozer or Peterson. Maybe they take Boogie Fland there and Braden with #36

PG Fland / Braden?
SG CamThomas - JaseRichardson?
SF TreJohnson? - ZWilliams
PF CamJohnson - Clowney - Jalen Wilson
C Claxton - Sharpe

Tyler Kolek was a much weaker prospect than Smith yet Smith isn't getting anywhere near the hype Kolek got. He's a much better player at a younger age, has a reported 2.25" WS advantage over Kolek w/ bigger hands and most importantly for a smaller guard is a vastly superior defender.

The difference in defensive ability and HT:WS ratio or just WS gives him much greater chances at NBA success. There are also a number of other advantages Smith possesses.

WCS for Smith in my opinion is Tyus Jones and BCS is something closer to FVV. But I need Smith to measure at legit 6 ft tall w/ shoes.

Smith is now in the college record books with names like Chris Paul, Ja Morant, Magic Johnson, Jason Kidd, Trae Young and Steph Curry. He is shattering all kinds of records involving winning and point, rebounding, assist and steal totals.

There is hardly much Markovic footage so far that's available to watch but by all accounts he is long and very agile for his size and can play PF. His 3pt and FT shooting has gone up every year since 2022 and he can stroke it on C&S. He's not gonna put up more than 1 stl and 1 blk/36 but his technical defense is great according to synergy. Could end up being a solid starter. Will probably downgrade him if someone with better nba traits and some creation potential rises in my eyes but it's hard to dislike an agile 6'11 forward with his improving shot accuracy at 19 who is solid enough across the board.

If Masai is serious about trading for Ingram and finishing outside the top 5 I can only assume he's locked in on Malauch

I also think Masai is dead set on Maluach.

Been saying this for quite some time, but it becomes more and more obvious with each passing day.

Watching Michigan-Oregon.

Wolf is such a tough evaluation. He basically co-runs point with Donaldson, which he won't do in the pros. He's a turnover machine, but he can pass, shoot and isn't horrible on D (might need to be paired with an athletic 4/5 like Okongwu or Precious, but those guys are around). Just hit a disgusting stepback 3 after a half-spin move, just don't see guys over 6'8 do that unless they're like KD. But he also probably has 3 turnovers in this first half.

Goldin has the right instincts off the ball, but there's too many plays where I think he's being too soft (at both ends) for a senior center. He will get open on the pick and roll, though, so that might be enough for him to be a 3rd string center, even if he finishes poorly inside. Too many centers in the league who can't figure out how to be a dangerous roll man.

Nobody popping on Oregon.

I keep hearing negativity about my guy Danny but I can’t seem to find another 7 footer who can do this outside of Wemby

When you basically reveal that Condon's offense is not projectable you're left with a scrapper and those guys are a dime a dozen.

The guy is new to basketball and already has a pretty good feel for the game. He's also a multisport athlete so if you get Poeltl (Poeltl only has a 7'1 wingspan)with a jumpshot as a high end outcome that's an all star and a very valuable piece.

Been high on Markovic all year. He can’t jump or defend in space, but the kid knows the game. He moves a little hunched over and stiff, but can get to his spots and is going to be a good shooter. He reminds me of a better shooting Kyle Anderson. I like him or Byrd for our 2nd rounder (assuming no one falls)

Harper is coming back tonight to play against Jakucionis. Might be a bad night to evaluate Harper if his ankle isn't in good shape, but I'll probably catch a bit of it anyways. Have only seen highlights of both so far.

I cannot buy into the upside of a center who took his 2pt% from .500 to .519. If he can't score the ball remotely efficiently he's going to have problems and the FT% and 3pt sample is sketchy. There is zero reason to buy into him having any kind of reliable jumpshot going forward with his 3pt volume and FT%.

People were really doubting Edey last year. Size in basketball makes the game easier and don’t let anyone tell you differently.

He’s gone from bench to starter with increased minutes and has made micro improvements at nearly every facet of his game. So there is steady growth.

He’s also pulled out advanced moves and passes, not sure anyone projected in the first round has displayed better instinctive playmaking chops.

Add that to him being late to the game and there’s a lot of upside here. He should be thought of as a project.

Scrubs like Kalkbrenner and Ballo who can only pull off simplistic moves have very limited upside. It’s like Mogbo, great efficiency in college, but a lot of it was done on dunks and lay-ups. How well do you think that’s translating to the NBA?

So he's purposely having the team win some games so he can tank for Maluach instead of Flagg?

Illinois-Rutgers thoughts:

-Jakucionis has been a mix of terrible and non-existent. Not even sure how to evaluate this.

-Harper is great. He can stop/start better than any other guard I've seen in college in years, I think? In control, will draw fouls in the pros. 3pt shot looks okay. He's been exhausted since it's his first game back from an injury. Not doing much on D but hard to judge because he's guarding a bad offensive player, and also he's resting on that end.

-Bailey, he's lost out there, but he also looks like KD when he elevates and shoots. His mistakes on D are mostly from trying to do too much (though he also gets flat footed at times, because again, he's basically lost on the court) which is nice. He definitely hates passing, but he also can pass, had 2 nice reads mid-drive. Not soft, which is nice.

-Ivisic, he rolled his ankle, which makes sense because he does not look like the kind of 7 footer whose body will hold up for 10 NBA seasons. Thin legs and is not comfortable leaving drop coverage on D. Highly skilled, had a nice Tim Duncan bank shot, just comfy with the ball in his hands. Had some blocks, shoots the 3.

-Will Riley, had a great stretch to bring them back into the game. Really good passer for a wing. Kind of Brandon Ingram-y. Shoots it well. Dribbles too high like a lot of skinny, long wings.

TLDR: I hope we draft Harper. Other guys intriguing, Jakucionis, I dunno he played like his dog just died.

Kasp hasn’t looked very good since he came back from injury
