Teams are looking at OKC and realizing you gotta think ahead and be proactive. Why try to force something that isn't gonna end well when you can load up on picks and slowly build up.
Because that only works when a few teams are doing it at most. If half the league tanks and "builds slow", the whole thing falls apart.
Also, it's not only insane, but also moronic, to suggest willingly trading a top 15 NBA player of all time in his prime to tank is a good strategy.

Of course that's why your try to do that as soon as possible. They literally are capped out and have no draft capital and can't really depend on internal development. It's not the perfect plan but if you can get like 8 first or more then you might have to take a look.

Let’s do it!
We’ll be missing a PG or a C afterwards though as to match salary we’re looking at IQ, RJ plus picks or RJ, Yak, min salary guy plus picks.
That said, I like the look of both options as long as we can adequately shore up the lost position.
IQ
JB
BI
SB
Mogbo (need improvement)
Shead (need improvement)
JB
BI
SB
Yak

We probably could get white for RJ and a second or two. That's probably best trade for us with out giving up to much of our future picks and young assets.

I’d do that in a heartbeat. But have to think someone will pay a lot more for him.

I don't think so, me personally I don't think he has the name appeal for front offices to give multiple first for him. We also are giving them a young wing on a decent contract which is expiring soon. Other teams would offer dead weight contracts not someone young like RJ with some promise.

Im not expecting anything but I feel like this is clearly the perfect time for the raps to finally do a draft day trade

Now, this would be an actual upgrade for RJ that I can get on board with. White is the perfect fit in this starting lineup. Obviously would prefer him to be younger but he should have another 2-3 years at least in his prime.

I'm pretty sure every front office knows how good Derrick White is, I mean he made Team USA too lol. He's not under the radar.

No chance Boston does this without the #9 pick being involved.

I love White but feels very Colangelo esque.

I would love to what Jaylen Brown looks like on another team, especially one where he's the best player...just not anywhere near the Raptors. In my opinion, he has benefited from playing on a stacked team and would get exposed as overrated surrounded with less talent.
32.4% from 3
4.5 assists, 2.6 turnovers
Still can't dribble with his left hand
Owed $57 million
No thanks

White checks a lot of boxes on what we are missing in the starting lineup at the 2. All-NBA level POA defender, efficient high volume 3 point shooter, high IQ, doesn't need the ball in his hands to be effective. Only thing he doesn't do is generate rim pressure. The advanced metrics are off the charts good though, he's a Lowry type impact guy.
He's had a positive on court per 100 and on/off per 100 every single year in his career (+7.6 in on court per 100, +4.9 in on/off per 100). He impacts winning at a very high level, his teams are consistently winning the minutes he's on the floor and better with him on it than off.

Yea of course but he is more of an elite role player and not a star. We are lucky we got young players on deals that we can trade for him. Most contenders are already locked in with their main guys. I don't see teams giving up crazy offers for him unless he's their final piece. Not many rosters have a young guy like RJ on a similar contract to White they are willing to move. Boston wont want another 30 year old coming back. But of course I could be wrong. RJ is still young enough for them to take a chance on and if he fails he will be an expiring very soon.

White is a finishing piece for a contending team. Not a piece we give up #9 for.

White is right around Lowry level in impact IMO
