I will take James Young and run. He is the type of player that you pick up at a buy low (dropped) situation.

To be honest everything I've seen from Young leaves me unimpressed. I could understand why he might drop. Right now all he is is a spot up shooter. He has weak handles, poor passing, doesn't get to the line, takes bad shots, poor defender, average athlete. All he has going for him is he's young so he has more time to develop and he has good size/length.

Sorry if I'm asking a question that has been answered, but why is there no discussion for McGary if he is there at 37?

A backup big body is a position of need, and he could be a good gamble. We'll also have a big body for a couple years at a very low price.

Just for fun, top 10 names in this draft (in no particular order)

Jabari Parker
Dante Exum
Julius Randle
Nik Stauskas
Dario Saric
Gary Harris
Shabazz Napier
Cleanthony Early (winner)

Actually only got to 8. Say these guys' names in your best sportscaster voice. If it sounds cool, they probably won't bust. True story.

http://walterfootball.com/nbadraft2014mock.php

This site apparently has a good track record with their mocks.

Noteables:
- Wiggins at 3
- Kyle Anderson to the Hawks at 15
- Raptors pick Payton at 20, but Tyler Ennis is at 24
- Raptors pick Damien Inglis at 37
- Jordan Bach @ 49 to the Bulls? The guy has finally made us way onto the draft boards.

Seems pretty accurate actually. I think Draftexpress is used mostly to learn about prospects than to predict what team is picking who. Their mocks don't get very accurate until right up to the draft usually. This mock seems to have taken some rumours into it.

Things like:

- Hawks worked out Kyle Anderson two times. They probably like him so good chance at 15
- Rumour has it that Aaron Gordon got a guarantee from the Celtics.

They took that into the equation.

I don't think his hype really took off until he did the combine. He only became lottery status when he tested well. A lot of people wrote him off because he played in a weak conference.

To the public perhaps. We were high on him before the combine and I'm quite certain scouts were as well.

I think a lot of teams were high on him, but no one wanted to let it get out in case the others hadn't done their homework. Colangelo wanted Lillard more than anything.

Wow, he looks a lot fitter and slimmer. Good for him.

Forgot to post this yesterday - saw Sim Bhullar walking at Bay/Harbour. He'd obviously been working out at the ACC. The awful photo doesn't do justice to how enormous (and sweaty) he was.

Cleanthony Early works out today for the raptors.. something interesting Sim Bhullar on todays workout list.. Really think he should've stayed in school for another couple of years..

I'm desperately hoping Kristaps Porzingis is available to us at 20. I just can't wrap my head around drafting anyone else.

Also, a big fan of Damien Inglis and/or Thanasis Anteawlefqjwpeoifbfadn;

It's weird that you brought this up. During the tournament I was talking to a buddy about this very thing. There's tons of cool-sounding names in this draft class and you definitely hit on some of the better ones.

I think you missed the best name for a dynamic player who's likely to show up on a ton of "Vine" videos in the years to come, Zach LaVine. His name in French is essentially "The Vine." Doesn't get much more badass than that.

I also think Rodney Hood is a pretty great basketball name. Although, I imagine a tougher guy that resembles more Ben Wallace or Ron Artest than how Rodney Hood actually looks (and plays).

Least favorite spellings of relatively common names? Jerami and Adreiane. I will forever spell Adrieiane's name wrong, just as I do Isiah Thomas (Kings). I'm too lazy right now to check either. I'm sure I murdered both right now.

I also think Eflrid Payton and Clint Capalla sound cool as names for some reason. Marcus Smart's not bad either. And how about Jarnell Stokes? Spencer Dimwiddie sounds like a cartoon character from Rocky and Bullwinkle. Bogdan Bogdanovich is probably the funniest name for me though. It reminds me of Christopher Christopherson.

I'm pretty sure we are bringing back Vasquez and Lowry, and we also have De Colo, Buycks and Stone. Even if Buycks and Stone don't return, why would they have us taking a PG?

How many bigs averaged 4.3 assists per game this year?

The difference is anderson actually brought the ball up and ran plays. Just cus mcroberts had 4 apg doesnt mean theyre similar players. Theyre totally different players

Payton, Inglis and Birch is not a bad draft. Even Payton, Inglis and Bhullar isn't a bad draft. Gives JV a big body to bang with.

So difficult to pick out of the group of prospects available at 20.

Move up for Gordon or Saric.

That would be good for us, but I suspect McDermott may drops. I hope Capela or James Young can be taken above us. Since there is lack of demand at PG, and the shooting concerns for Payton, he may very well be at our pick.

I personally would be disappointed with Payton at our pick. PG is the most saturated position in the NBA with decent options and he doesn't strike me as a special talent. He has good athleticism but not great, he has good passing skills but not great, and his shot is horrendous. For every Rondo there are 5 Royal Iveys and he's more Ivey than Rondo imo.

His unselfishness is better than Rondo for bringing Casey's offensive system into play.
Good or bad, around the league, Payton would be the ideal guy to bring both the offensive and defensive system from Casey. The key has been on the defensive end, where Payton's team was top in defense.

Do you think people on this board would really care that much about Tyler Ennis if he wasn't
a Canadian.
Raptors should make their pick based on talent and potential not on nationality.
