This is probably close to a path they’ll end up taking. They’re not going to tear it all down and will likely try to retool.

My main issues with this are that I think we can probably get more for OG and you still are left either paying Fred or getting back something minimal in a sign & trade.

We're definitely trading one or more of OG, FVV, Trent, Birch, Booshay, OPJ Flynn and maybe Siakam I don't think it'll just be Flynn either.

Masai probably thinking we should get into the play-in now lol. BKN significantly worse, only real contenders are Bucks and Celtics. If he thinks adding Poetel to this group can make us contenders he is out to lunch. He better either trade for KD or just do a tear down. This was my worry about waiting so long, Masai sees some teams get worse in the east and he thinks getting in the play-in is worth it.

there wouldn't be enough picks to make up the gigantic gulf between Siakam and Simmons. Have you seen Simmons stats this year?
Siakam gets better and better every year while Simmons is the complete opposite, he's fallen off a cliff and it doesn't look like he wants to play basketball anymore.

They aren't trading Claxton-he's a better rim protector than JJJ, and wouldn't be interested in OG with O'Neale and Finney-Smith on their roster.

Maybe this could work:

Spurs - Nets 1st, Harris, Koloko
Raptors - Claxton, Nets 1st, Richardson
Nets - OG, Poeltl, 2 Raptors 2nds, 2 Spurs 2nds

Spurs get a 1st and Koloko to replace Poeltl, which seems like about his value

Nets get a Poeltl-Simmons-KD-OG-FinneySmith-Royce-Curry-Dinwiddie top 8 which looks like as good a lineup as you're gonna get for KD realistically, without a 2nd star, and while they give up 2 firsts for a bunch of 2nds, they get a potentially scary smallball lineup of OG-Simmons-KD-Royce/DFS-Dinwiddie and Poeltl is a solid center to play big minutes when they play Embiid, Bam or Jokic and otherwise do well. The 2nds can be used to go after a guard now or in the future, or just try to keep costs down by hitting on 1 or 2 of them.

Raptors get a team next year of:

Claxton-Precious
Siakam-Precious
Barnes-Otto
Trent-Richardson
VanVleet-____

and then we get a 3rd forward and a backup spot with our 1st rounder and the MLE in some combination (say Whitmore/Ausar/Walker at forward and a Reggie Jackson/Pat Bev type at PG, or Smith/Wallace/Black at guard and then it's hard to fill the 3rd forward spot with the MLE but we have an extra first to use on a guy we like and Thad/Porter/Birch as contracts to use to get one).

Nets give up a lot, but if they're trying to keep KD, adding 2 quality starters for one might do it.
