Fair enough. I agree we should take a gamble on him, because he's a legit 5 who can potentially be a top center in the eastern conference. But in the back of my mind, everytime I see him rebound or go up, i'll be wincing. Just like when Garbo came back from that injury...felt very weasy watching him jump.

He mentioned that he's in pain now, so not sure how that's going to play out...offseason surgery?

I guess more reaosn to re-sign Amir.

I just think it's smart on the Lakers' part. Bosh is better than Bynum, Phil likes Bosh and doesn't like Bynum, Bosh plays with Kobe and therefore won't play with LeBron or Wade. Lakers win in more ways than on paper.

Any other scenario with Bynum and the Lakers likely lose value on him because of his injury history and contract size.

Bosh can play for a Frankenstein team with LeBron or Wade and hope it all comes together, or he can plug right into a contender and soak in all those warm LA vibes. The work's mostly done for him, he just has to hit open shots, rebound and get the F out of Kobe's way when it's time to win the game.

It will be interesting to see how teams try and stop a Kobe/Bosh/Gasol offense.

I'd go with Voodoo, myself.

If CF is accurate this time....and I really hope he is.....what's interesting is that there was a deal in place as early as the all-star break for Bynum/Bosh, meaning BC probably already knew by then there was little chance Bosh will be back. WOW! :o

This kind of explains the noticeable drop-off in RuPaul's play, almost like.....I just want to put on a show during the all-star game and then call it a season.

At this point I'm pulling the trigger on Bynum, and I'm sure most here will agree.

Bynum may have bad knees, but the payoff for taking a chance could be franchise changing. He's already better in the post than Dwight Howard once he pans out he could be a 20 and 12 guy perennially.

Wow, never thought about that... You're right. Anyone think we would've been better served ditching Bosh at the deadline for a better deal, or will it be worth the wait?

Bynum's knees scare the crap out of me. So much so i turned down 3 or 4 one sided offers for him in my fantasy league this year because of them.

When i'm not willing to give up Kirilenko for Bynum mid season (my fantasy league remember), I can't see the raps taking on that huge deal on those knees.

But crazier things have happened. This team has had some serious busts when taking chances, i'm probably just more scarred by them than BC.

This deal with the Lakers is as good as perhaps it will get for a S&T deal for the Raps and I'm 100% supporting it, perhaps even if it means there's a chance Kobe (when all is said and done) will have more rings than MJ. :(

There's something distasteful and wrong about that, but for the good of the Raps I'll live with it.

the other thing to consider is that while Kobe is the man now this sets Bosh up to be the man in LA in a couple years......if he thinks he's that good and gets his "the man' status back

It's not really a huge deal though. 28 million over 2 years + a team option for 16 million. The second guaranteed year might end up being locked out anyway.

Yeah he's young but I'm not sold on Bynum at all. The only good thing is that he is a serviceable center.

Watching him in the playoffs he's just been out of his element. Problem? This makes Bargnani our new franchise player which isn't a great thing for the near future. We still need someone in the backcourt to take our offense by the reigns. I would actually go for Gilbert in this case.

Bryant/Bosh/Gasol. The Lakers would be such an interesting team, Bosh is a very coachable guy and I can see him going far.

2 things

1. Even as a rook, Bynum would stand up to Shaq, while Bosh turned the other prominently high boned cheek when shaq called him a drag queen.

It's called paying the price for respect. something I don't think CB has the stones for. You might take a lump or two, but you earn respect.

2. I've wanted Bynum in a raps jersey since this display.

15 and 9 next to Gasol is more than a serviceable center, he would start on any team not named Orlando. You can go ahead and name off all the teams in the league, he'll start for EVERY one of them. (not ORL)

The only way the Lakers do this is if they are certain Bynum is seriously damaged goods. It really doesn't make sense for them to give this guy up otherwise.

The only reason he's available is because LA is tired of losing Bynum in the playoffs...they're just trying to secure their title runs.

I don't see how a Gasol/Bosh frontcourt will work. Both Gasol and Bosh are pf's and have a similar offensive game. Bynum seems like a better fit for that Lakers team.

They're getting Bosh. Reason enough for a older team. They need to maximize their chances while their window's still open. And yeah, it doesn't help that Bynum's injury prone and Phil's probably tired of him.

But compared to the other deals out there for Bosh, this is still the one I prefer.
