interesting development, if true.

really didn't think we'd use the MLE but it looks as if BC is going to be given free reign to spend close to the luxury tax threshold again, if not above it.

is this where we get our point guard? or do we go for small forward?

Very likely indeed. He is 27 years old (not too old), can play SF, can get tons of rebounds and can shoot 3s. Heard he has good work ethics too.

I'm guessing it won't be a RFA.

T.Thomas is a 3/4 and everyone else is a 3.

I will be happy with one of this player.

Childress
Barnes
Brewer
Gomes
Marrow
Outlaw

hopefully its Childress since JJ got max deal with Atlanta, hopefully they won't match the offer.

my guesses would be
Josh Childress
Raja Bell
Linas Kleiza

I'd much prefer Matt Barnes on a 3 year (3rd year team option) contract for the whole MLE to any of these players, Unfortunately, knowing Colangelo he'll find a way to give Ronnie Brewer 5 years and 50 million.

I think all signs point to Ryan Gomes

- We need a backup SF at the very least and if we trade Turkoglu we'll need more than that.
- They like Gomes already.
- Colangelo LOVES guys who can play multiple positions and he'll be selling us on the fact that Gomes can occasionally fill in a bit at the PF spot and be a utility guy for us sort of like how Diaw was for him in the past.
- Gomes is a quality guy.
- He's a solid rebounder for the position which is something we could use.
- He's a hard worker on defence so Triano will have no problems about him.
- He lived and played in cold weather climates most of his life, growing up in Connecticut, going to school at Providence, playing in Boston and then most recently in Minnesota.
- Basically entering his prime years in the NBA so his productivity, presumably, will be at its best over the next few years and will then trail off in his early thirties as he takes on more and more of a bench role.

I think it will be Gomes.

Gomes is a good player no doubt, but a full MLE or close to the MLE??? For a player who just got waived from an even smaller contract?! Ugh BC, please..

BC signed Kapono when he was around 26. He signed Jack last year at the same age. Gomes is 27 at the moment.

It just feels like a BC MLE move.

I wouldn't be opposed to Gomes.

But I'd much prefer Barnes or Morrow if it's for the MLE. Barnes because he brings that toughness and D on the wings. And Morrow because it would be nice to have someone come off the bench with the potential to drop 20-30 points on a good night.

If its Gomes for the full MLE Bryan Colangelo has gone insane, you don't pay Gomes full MLE money

He is also more of a PF than a SF, awful signing if thats the case.... I'd imagine its Barbosa..

I'm assuming he's just guessing, as usual.

Whoever it is, two things are guaranteed.
1) BC will overpay.
2) This board will be disappointed.

I was thinking the other day how all the twitter updates are from pdcavsinsider (whoever that is), some miami beat reporter (iraheat??), and even a phoenix radio guy (gambo??). How come no Toronto beat writer has any scoop. All Doug knows is we're close to signing A free agent, but has no clue which one??? Wth?!?

How would signing a free agent now, before we resolve CB, change things? Does it mean we're forced into having to do a S&T to stay over the cap to keep our MLE? Any change in the status of renouncing CB??

Return to Toronto Raptors
