Portland Wants Kemba; Maybe Not (Update)

Some Portland fans were amenable to a Batum+#21 for #5 deal. The only reason that would be doable is because of Gerald Wallace being their clear cut starter now. We get a long, defensive-minded SF that can knock down 3's and has shown he can be a very efficient scorer. And he's just 22.

With #21 we can select a project big like Nogueira/Tyler, or perhaps Selby/Jackson/CoJo.

Personally I'd allow them to keep the pick. Batum into our TPE for the 5th pick straight up.

A steal like Marshon Brooks, Iman Shumpert or Josh Selby could be available at that pick. Just do Batum + 21 for #5 + TPE.

Camby, Miller Batum and #21 would be the nuclear option where we clear a lot of capspace (Camby's expiring, Miller is fully unguranteed is waived before June 29th. I highly doubt we'd do it though, although it would allow us to go after a big time free agent next summer.

Oden for our #5?

I don't see Oden ever being able to play over 60 games a season. His knees are bad and even if he trims down his weight, the damage is done.

If we need a defensive C with upside, taking Biyombo would be 100x better than trading for 50 years old Oden.
