I can see Nash coming to Toronto and at the same time picking up a young PG via draft just so he can mentor him along the way. This would be the ideal scenario to have Nash play along with Demar, Bargnani and JV as he'd be great with the Pick and Roll and finding cutters to the basket.

One reason I might not mind Nash coming to Toronto, is that it means the Knicks lose out on him.

And it is no real surprise that Colangelo will be offering Nash and Barbosa some money. You don't need an uncle in the clubhouse to figure that out.

It would be a mistake to sign both Barbosa and Nash to any sort of contract. Nash isn't the best defender and he is already on the decline. Barbosa is a chucker, who is better suited on a playoff bound team that needs some speed and instant bench offence. Right now, we need to figure out if we are to move forward with DD, JJ, Bayless, and Ed. All four of those core pieces have gigantic question marks surrounding them. Nash alone cannot solve those problems for us.

i get your point, and i understand your skepticism, believe what you want, and chirp what you want. I'll leave it at that, because i feel like me trying to convince you that my source is credible is an act of futility and will only just get me into trouble.

That being said, i think you raise a valid argument about the core that I have yet to ask about. I'm a believer in patience, some players deserve more patience than others, and DD is one of those guys. Ive seen him bust his ass in the off season, had dinner with him, and the guy wants to ball FOR TORONTO.

The other guys are as much a mystery to me than they are to you. I like JJ, but if we draft/trade for a more athletic/scoring savvy player i fear he will become useless, and with linas' contract, i think he will be one of our first "assets" to go.

If Dwight does go to the Nets, there goes our chance at making the playoffs even if we get Nash.

barbosa is a bad move yes, he only does one thing well which is score but
- he does it by creating a stagnant offense while 4 teammates watch
- at a poor efficiency
- with avg shooting
- doesnt pass much
- to top everything off, a very poor defender also

Folks just discuss the thread on the merits that Nash and Barbosa "could" sign with the Raptors. Leave the "source" aspect of it alone and we'll let the thread stay open.

So that means Ed is probably out (Val/Bargnani/Amir sounds much better frontcout with Amir being able to play back up C or starting C if need be + he'd have a ton of fun playing with Nash). I'm guessing Jose gets amnestied.

2 year deals sounds pretty aiight. It gives us two years to be a mediocore playoff team (on the back of Nash) but what about after?Whose a free agent then? ANd we'd still need a PG.

I'm guessing that it means Barnes is likely our target in draft.

I agree that DD still deserves time and patience. I still think he is a starter in this league (I will admit that I have moved away from the belief that he could become a borderline all-star).

I really like JJ and Kleiza off the bench. If we could sign a solid SF, or draft someone special, we are in better shape for sure. Bayless is a write off and Ed just hasn't had a chance to play with Amir and Bargs ahead of him in the rotation. If we can some how keep our front court of Bargs/Jonas/Amir/Ed intact, we would be set for years to come.

By the time Jonas starts to make an impact Nash would be even older. I doubt Nash feels any sort of allegiance to Toronto. Why would he pick us over a a solid contender offering him good money.

Nash could very well help further the national team for many years after he retires.

I would assume that a guy from Vancouver would care more about developing basketball around the country rather than help develop a bunch of foreign players in Toronto.

I like the idea personally. It gives us a chance to gain some experience, without breaking long term plans IMO. There is no real "GAME CHANGER" this offseason in terms of free agents. We aren't going to be a playoff team just by adding two rookies. I think we need to bring them up through the ranks, and let Nash have the reigns. Even if he only plays 25 mins a game he's still amazingly effective. I can't imagine how efficient Bargs will be with someone with that skill and respect around the league sharing the floor with him.

I would love to see Barbo and Nash here....

People aren't afraid of Nash falling off? He's already 38. I get that he's still playing at a high level, but rarely does a player ever play productively this close to age 40. He's gonna have a noticeable decline, and it's coming soon. I could very easily see a signing like this mirror the Dream signing.

I can't imagine his shooting and passing to fall off dramatically...thats what makes him soo effective. Get real

I can see BC giving Nash a lot of money if we draft a SF and Jose leaves. We'll need a solution at PG and nash will come for 2 yr / 30 m

2 year/ 30m is BC offers
