PJIII has neither the speed or skill level to play the 3, but nonetheless it doesn't matter, he comes off the bench his first year to prove whether he can't anyways
It's going to be a glorious day... I feel my luck could change

Ignoring PJ III's physical and athletic tools for a second, he still doesn't have the on-ball skills to play the 3.
Basketball is like poetry in motion, cross the guy to the left, take him back to the right, he's fallin back, then just J right in his face. Then you look at him and say, "What?" - Jesus Shuttlesworth

IF he ends up on our team, I'll leave it as we'll see and if he ends up here (not elsewhere) you can quote me on him ending up a SF and finding decent success doing so.

I love PJIII's potential.

He's too risky for us to pick though, period.

Is he a 3 or a 4? Is he going to get more aggressive?

If he is a 4 then how can we play him with so many 4's on the roster already

If he is a 3 can he shoot and defend well enough to play next to DeMar? Probably not.

Therefore, a big fat NOOOOOOOOO to PJ3.

Like him but not on the Raps. Great fit for Houston or Phoenix...

How many forward tweeners, especially ones with a low drive, have to become busts for teams to realize they never pan out in the NBA? Want nothing to do with him.

Highlight mix: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHFymjyG_0c

No question that he has potential. I would go for a home run on him if all of MKG, Drummond, Davis, Beal, Barnes, Lamb, TRob are taken.

Here`s a more recent mix, I think it shows off his perimeter skills a lot more than his freshman years mixes:

He reminds me of Charlie V who I was a fan of when he was around so I guess it wouldn't be that bad of a pick if it was a late lotto pick. He definitely cannot play the 3 full time though so he'll just be stuck behind Andrea, Ed, Amir, Jonas, and Aaron on the depth chart if they are all still here.

If we didn't already have a glut of 4s, I'd be more intrigued. And I don't see him as a 3 at all.

lol not to be too particular BUT the mix I put up was strictly his sophmore season....this one contains plenty of his freshman season as evidenced by him occasionally wearing the number 5 lol in it.

I would be quite happy with PJ at 7 or 8, again this is a guy with the highest upside only next to Anthony Davis in this entire draft. He has incredible physical tools and if he ever puts it together, he is going to be a monster. I do not believe he is a 4, he doesnt want to be one, his game doesnt resemble one and his natural tendencies are that of a wing player. Like I said before, if a team invests the coaching and development time into molding him into a 3, and he puts it all together, he will be a monster wing player. As soon soon as he steps on the court he will already be in the top 10 % of the NBA in terms of athleticism and physical tools, he just needs to be developed and groomed into a 3. I am sure Colangelo is salviating at the chance of drafting a true physical specimen if he's still on board at 8 / 7 . As much as people want to hate on this kid, I think he has superstar potential, again its a long road, but if he develops and reaches that potential, he is going to be a very very scary player.

He has the tools to become an elite level defensive player which is the most intriguing part about him to me.

I'm sitting on the fence with Perry Jones. He's got lots of talent and upside but his inconsistencies and lack of a motor really push me away from him.

I think people confuse 2 things. A lack of motor vs a lack of assertiveness. Its a grey area with a fine line, but from what I saw, it was more about a player growing into his own skin and realizing his role and the fact he should be dominating over others. PJ is a very unselfish player, for his talent level he should be demanding the ball and be the 1st option , but he gives up the ball and puts his team mates first. He is unselfish to a fault , literally. This will improve as he grows older and gains more confidence, the motor issue I dont think is as much of a problem as people make it out to be.

I think he can play the 3. I see him as somewhat like Rudy Gay, or Rashard Lewis in his prime with the Sonics when he played SF.

I'm saying too that PJ3 is a SF. His game isn't as a 4 at all. He want's to be on the wing and plays like a wing. He's a a real problem if he can hit 38% from the 3pt and get away with defending 3s with his length. He's like a rookie yr Marvin Williams to me...

This guy is the black Bargnani ... Zero motor, no passion, plays like he doesn't care ..

+1000. He can easily become a super star because of his athletic gifts and talent alone. The question is motivation. And if Casey could get Bargnani to play hard, I'll take my chances on him mentoring/motivating a fellow Southern basketball player. The dude is a 3 people can claim otherwise all they want, they would have said the same had Rudy Gay or Durant played the 5 in college too. I think in this draft you go for the home run pick at 8th.

And the fact he struggled to play like a big man in college is your sign right there - it's cuz he ISN'T ONE. it was his first time having been cast into that role by default. That's like making Quincy Acy play the 2 suddenly. I remember reading an article on him last year, which said that in Baylor practices, the players sprint with the ball down the court and the fastest player in this drill was consistently PJIII. Way faster than Baylor's guards with the ball.

This kid is so talented. I think Casey could turn him into such a great player. I know most of you guys just hate his game, but if reaches his potential he could be the best player to come out of this draft class.
