Had a scary thought:

What if MLSE goes back to Bryan Colangelo as the president of MLSE?

That would be hilarious, and terrifying at the same time.

Ehh. That's not really his job. Think of Tim as more like a consultant.

That's what I meant...he still needs more consulting to do, the jobs not done.
Masai's to do list

Dafuq? That's like Heat "fans" being mad at LeBron for leaving.

TL made huge strides for all the MLSE franchises on the off-court/ice/field front. Now it's up to the GM's to get the W's.

This is pretty disappointing news but I cant say that im surprised. I was more surprised when he actually decided to come here. At least he helped the Toronto Raptors by hiring Masai but I wonder what effect this will have on stars coming here. Especially when Tim himself said that Toronto is one of top FA destinations, pretty hard to back that up when he decides to bolt.

**** though, what does this mean when KD or future free agents see this?

Hah! Anybody who listened to the Bob McCown interview from a few months ago should not be surprised AT ALL. I posted that opinion and got dismissive to vehement disagreement from folks - I don't think they really listened to the exchange.

Of course, for those old enough to truly understand the dysfunction of MLSE, this is even less of a surprise. Tanenbaum is the same guy who hosted Leafs at BBQs and stood behind years and years of moronic decisions like signing over-the-hill Toronto-area players instead of investing in a proper rebuild.

MLSE is our Dolan ladies and gentlemen. You will never be free. Enjoy the pain.

This was also implied fairly strongly in the past - again people brushed it off.

No. He came preaching Championships, and then, for some reason, last year shifted goal posts. For the man who said the idea that players don't want to be here is baloney, he sure didn't want to be here, I guess. Who knows. He got them to blow a bunch of money on soccer, hired a great gm, linked team to Drake, seems to have gotten practice court in position, and took a big poo on the Leafs. All in all, as one of his biggest critics, while he didn't have staying power, he did some good things. He may have been a blow hard, but maybe we needed it. Clearly he mis judged the pucks situation, just look at this idea to remove pictures of former greats, with Shanahan now building statues. Still, again who knows why, I don't buy move on to greater challenges thing, he'd be leaving a pretty big challenge here, and like he said there'd be no bigger feather than getting a cup to Toronto, but all his talk about it being BS about the market being difficult, and about some leafs players not have the skin it takes to survive in the market sure seems hollow.

From my seat, he'd won me over somewhat. I still think he a blowhard who will just say anything, can't argue with the results. I still think BC deserved a better exit, and I think time has shown that, while at the same time, I think we're in a better position for having moved on.

you don't think BC comes back, do you?

What a shock
Optimism Bias is the tendency of individuals to underestimate the likelihood they will experience adverse events. Optimistic bias cannot be reduced, and by trying to reduce the optimistic bias the end result was generally even more optimistically biased

Hopefully his last piece of work will be to find competent presidents for the franchises.

I had that thought, too. But I'd think if he was left Masai alone and just did the super high level stuff, it may not have any impact on the Basketball product.

Crap I really liked having a guy like TL as a bulwark between Masai and Bell/Rogers.

Its going to be tough to find a high profile guy who is willing to put up with Bell and Rogers while still giving Masai the freedom to do what he needs.
