Wait What?

Paul Pierce is the new piece that they are basing these expectations on? He may be good but the dude is reaching 37! Are they COMPLETELY disregarding the fact that they lost Trevor Ariza in the process?

And NBA's official twitter is picking up this story?

Man, someone needs a reality check!

Wizards are officially the Golden State Warriors of the East (except half as good)

I'm looking forward to a heated rivalry between the Raps and the Wiz. Similar talent level and a lot of interesting match ups, especially in the backcourt. Plus I love to hate on Pierce.

Meh, we very nearly swept the season series last year and wouldn't be surprised if we had their number again

We have the better back court and the younger front court. The only spot they have an advantage at is at SF but even then Pierce is declining while Ross is on the rise along with Val. I hope DD drops 50 on Beal and these suckas.

Wizards are crazy... They are going to be one and done. Without Ariza they won't be able to defend anyone on the wing. Seriously I don't even think they belong in the conversation.

I am only worried about Gortat, just like with SAC we get DESTROYED by talented bigs.

If the hypothetical is all teams healthy, they definitely cannot beat Chicago and I don't think they are ready to win a 7 game series against Cleveland. Teams will figure them out where they pack the paint, stay home on Beal and let their SFs and PFs shoot as many mid-range and 3 pointers as they want.

As much speed as Wall has, he is now surrounded with a slow plodding verteran lineup where he will be handcuffed in a lot of half court sets. I am really curious to see how this teams does and what style they decide to play with limited shooting and slow feet.

Pierce really carried Brooklyn last year too.... lol. I'm not sold on Beal, but if he has a heck of a year, then the Wizards could be in the ECF/finals.

They'll lose to the raps or hornets in the first round...

I guess people think Paul Pierce should have said "The Wizards can make it to the 2nd round this year"

In my opinion the wizards are better than us and are definitely in the discussion for 2nd best team in the east along with Chicago.

Their backcourt is as good or better as ours and Gortat at this point in their careers is better than Jonas and Nene is a handful down low with a great mid range shot. They are very well rounded with multiple years together.

We are too dependent on Lowry and Derozan, our offense is painful to watch and our defense is scrambly and overrated. Watch Chicago if you want to see what defense should look like.
We just don't play winning basketball. Maybe in regular season but not playoffs.
Reason No. 12,356 why I love the NBA: The Curry-Randolph combo marks the first time in NBA or WNBA history that a team has started two C-cups at the same time.

They remind me so much of the 2008 76ers. So many people were hyping them up for getting injury prone Elton Brand. Then they bombed.

We did just come from a game in pre-season where two of our top offensive players were out(Ross/Patterson)-and beyond that we just need to get Jonas involved in the offense and I think were good. Bench wise-Patterson/Lou/GV should give us a solid offense. Not saying were better then Wizards-were pretty much on if all parties are healthy...which is sadly a ceiling at ECF. Problem with Wizards- Paul Pierce is old. Nene is insanely injury prone... I just flat out think that the reality of the situation is going have the Wizards(at best) being as good as they are this year, with any improvements in Wall/Beal being match by the decline in the rest of the team due to losing TA, & age of that front court. Team is being overrated from all angles.

Mitch Kupchak recently said his expectations for the Lakers are to win the title and their road to possibly doing that is even more slim.

Let them say whatever they want. If it makes you better, great.

Impressive,

The Wizards are overhyping themselves more than the rest of the league.

I think most people expect them to not comment at all.
