Yeah, Howard for JV seems absolutely horrible... However,

JV, Carroll, P.Patterson, J.Johnson
For
Howard, Ariza, T.Jones

That's not all that bad from a talent exchange, and if it doesn't work out it opens up a lot of cap space... However, having to resign Howard, DeRozan, & T.Jones in the offseason is asking for cap hell...

I would have done it to get out of the first round and improve our defense. Then when Howard walks we draft a defensive center with our lottery pick..also gets rid of turtle.

Something's wrong with Howard's personality.

SVG ended up hating him, Kobe hated him, Harden hated him, McHale doesn't seem very high on him. He threw Jameer Nelson under the bus.

I wonder what it is...it can't just be the corny sense of humour.

I'd be down to bring him home in the summertime if there was another big time player we were bringing in. But at that point we can just sign him

This is only newsworthy because it gives some indication of JV's value in the trade market.

i believe McHale recommended him to Ainge(Boston) and they're planning on going after him in the offseason.

I heard it wasent Kobe, but Dwight couldnt get along with Steve Nash of all people. Nash one of the nicest guys in the League. If you cant work with Steve, then their is something wrong.

McHale was recently quoted as saying: "Howard wasn't the problem in Houston but he wasn't the solution either" or something like that.

That's a pretty tepid endorsement.

That would be abysmal asset management.

I don't think that's a complimentary indicator actually, if your statement were true. I think it's less an indicator of his value though and more an indicator that some GMs won't trade unless they can seemingly get something for nothing. Morey has this rep already.

But, I think 100% MU leaked this. Even though it would have been a horrible trade, optically it looks good for him pointing out we turned down an offer of Howard. HOU wouldn't bother leaking this, it would only point out how they lowball, and DH is a FA they want no part of anymore.

Low-ball offer through and through.

Morey's an idiot if he thought he could get a guy like Val for Howard at this point.

He should have taken a low 1st and expirings. Now Howard's going to walk for nothing and the rest of the Houston season is going to be unbearable for the players.

I'd do that trade if I thought it would make us a championship contender but I don't think it does and the salaries don't match. If Dwight wants to play for us he can sign in the off season I'd love to see him at PF/C for the Raptors.

I'd probably do it and proceed to go all in and trade all our young assets and picks (2016 only) for Horford, Ryno, possibly Korver too. Obviously we would need more coming back with Dwight, probably T.jones and another player to add to our rotation.

lowry
demar
carroll/korver
horford jones
howard/BB

It would also be very easy to clear the team and start tanking if this didn't work out. However, this would've got us off the treadmill.
