Re: 2016-17 Tickets and Memorabilia Thread
I got my tickets today and I noticed that they have my cost and not the face value on them. Do you guys have your cost on them too?
Kind of makes "face value" pointless if my cost is on the ticket itself.

With dynamic pricing, face value is kind of meaningless. The price is supposed to vary with demand. A lot of people who post tickets for sale at face value make it sound like you are paying what he did, but for tickets from a season seat holder, paying face value means he gets a profit. As I understand dynamic pricing by MLSE, the market price up to game time should not be less than the cost to a season seat holder of those tickets, so they always have a good deal. The fact is, many games will be sellouts, so even face value is likely to be a deal on many nights.
While I'm at it, these are the last few games I have for sale.
Almost all gone
Here's all that left of my season seats for sale. The bottom line is the same as always: Section 321 Row 5, these two seats are dead centre of the upper bowl. Prices are my cost price, per pair
October
San Lorenzo DA 14-Oct Fri 7:00 PM – $40
March/April
Miami 07-Apr Fri 7:30 PM - $132

Well that is BS. I guess SSH don't actually get a percentage off for buying full seasons. That used to be the difference of cost vs face value.

props to Turbozone for the sig

There is no such thing as a static face value any more, not with dynamic pricing. For example, at this moment every game appears destined to be a sellout. Right now, even for a crappy team like the Sixers game in late Nov, a pair in my Balcony Prime category that cost me $74/pair is selling at Ticketmaster for $130. People buying singles when they first went on sale probably would have paid the nominal face price of $59 per ticket, or more, but certainly not the $37 per ticket I paid for my pair. That nominal face price is not visible to buyers, although some SSHers got it if they asked. But it became irrelevant once singles went on sale.
Dynamic pricing provides renewing SSHers with the guarantee they will never be undersold by the team's sale of tickets either in minipaks, singles, half-seasons, season seats to newcomers, etc. One's cost price on the ticket is determined by one's renewal date as well. If you renewed by April 1, you get the lowest price. Thats what's on your tickets. With rare exception over the 41 regular season games, you will have paid 10-50% less than non-SSHers pay for singles. If you are re-selling at "face value", that could be a problem for you because you are taking a nominal price that no longer has relevance on the market. Sellers will have to change your marketing to point out the considerable value people are getting by buying from them, even at a marked up rate, as opposed to going the Ticketmaster route. (And this is only an issue if you actually distribute printed tickets to customers, as e-tickets can be created without visible pricing)
The bottom line is what you paid when you renewed your tickets. My tickets cost $4,500 and change. Buying the same seats (were they even available as singles), would cost me at least $8550 at the nominal face value I was provided, and that assumes I could buy them the day singles went on sale. They might cost even more if they were always available at the wicket on game night.

Yes and yes. But last year, with dynamic pricing, hard tickets had a cost on them - the same cost that was for same zoned tickets when available for presale (for example, GSW and Cleveland side primes had $451 printed on them). So although face value has no "meaning" in the sense that pricing may change upto game time, it does have meaning in perceived value of the ticket - when giving as a gift, when selling to a friend, and when submitting to the CRA as a tax expense.

Just curious... What is the free gift this year? Where are you seats? There are usually different gifts for lowerbowl vs. upperbowl.

Yeah I don't understand why they used SSH price for the hard ticket cost, when there is an actual 'face value' cost for this year as well (when I got my tiering it had 'SSH price' and 'face value' which was higher).

I'm a season seat holder with pairs in Section 108 row 10 (platinum centre court, imho best seats in the house) as well as 318 row 3 (upper bowl corner, great price point for pretty good seats).
Below are games and prices pretty much at or below face value. If you buy multiples we can work out some sort of discount. DM if interested!
Prices are PER SEAT
Do you still have tickets available for the November 12 game against New York Knicks?? I would be interested in purchasing two tickets!

Selling tickets to all games. My seats are located in Section 324 Row 9. Below is a link the google sheet, and prices are listed for the pair. If you buy multiple games at once we can work out a deal.
My contact info is listed in the doc too. Thanks for looking!

I'm a season seat holder in the upperbowl and the free gift was sent in late August. It was a framed picture from the 2015-16 season with a piece of game used floor from the ACC enclosed. I believe every SSH got the same gift, I think.

The perceived value of a gift is one thing, but if the recipient believes this face value price is what you paid, you're being deceptively generous, no? As for the CRA, if they ever audit you, you will have to pull out better evidence of what you actually paid than ticket stubs.

I did receive that framed playoff picture, but I was under the impression that that was a special one-off gift.
Did you receive your SSH ticket package yet? And if so, was there no gift included?

I got my package last Friday and there was no gift included. The items that were included in the package were the hard copy tickets (which are in 3-D), 3-D glasses, SSH membership card, food/drink coupons and a letter from Masai.
