Part of this is we don't know what the $ could look like?

If KLow would sign 5 year $126 mil contract team option last year and SI would sign 5 years $101 with first year $19 mil and last a team option I would think about bringing most of the team back.

Trade DMC and package our Pick and DW to move up and get best SF we can. Work with PJ to take reasonable deal and let 2pat walk. PS and BC both need some PT to show what they got like Lucas this year.

PG KLow, DW, FVV
SG DD, NP, FA
SF draft pick, PJ, BC
PF SI, PS Vet min
C. JV, JP, LN

Lowry
DeRozan
Chandler
Ibaka
Valanciunas

Wright
Powell
Ojeleye (draft pick)
Siakam
Poeltl

HC: Dwane

I estimate salaries for 2017-2018 at around 111 mil. for this squad. I just stretch waived Carroll to re-sign Lowry and Ibaka. Traded Joseph and Bebe for Chandler.

How'd this team do?

1. Patterson can GTFO with the gust of a thousand winds.

2. Re-sign Lowry but not to the full max. If I'm Masai, I walk in and start negotiations $10 million/year below the max and don't climb a penny over $5 million/year below the max.

3. Re-sign Ibaka

4. Trade Carroll. I'd call the Clippers and see if they want to do a swap for Crawford. We might have to throw in a draft pick or the rights to a DeAndre Daniels or someone to make even out disparity.

5. Re-sign Tucker. He could be the key to a complete culture overhaul for this franchise. I hate the cliche, but he can be our modern day Oakley.

6. I hire a new coach. Someone who doesn't lend to the players a fantastical mythological view of LeBron. Someone who isn't just happy to be a one-liner in LeBron's personal narrative.

I have not heard of Ojeleye but Chandler would be much better then Carroll. I would not use the stretch provision on Carroll though as money is tight as it is and the franchise can not afford to pay players to just go away. Ujiri was able to get picks for Bargnani so hopefully he could get something for Carroll. I think it is time to move on from Casey with Stackhouse waiting for a shot. It is just time with Casey. I also am not sure if I would want to have Ibaka, JV & Poeltl on the roster going forward. Everyone is going to want different things but your rebuild, I would call it a retool looks fine to me.

Step 1:
- Fire Casey

Step 2:
- Trade JV and Carroll

Step 3:
- Don't resign PPat or Lowry

Step 4:
- Resign Ibaka/Tucker

Step 5:
- Sign an elite player (George)
- Sign a 3 point specialist

I would do a mini quick rebuild with team that will win less but still be playoff team.

Let Lowry/2pat/Tucker walk. Trade and get out of JV/Carroll contracts. Resign Ibaka as our starting C. Give youngsters rotation minutes.

C: Ibaka/Poetl
PF: Siakam / Draft (or possible trades)
SF: Powell / Draft (or Possible trades)
SG: DD / Joseph
PG: Joseph / Wright / VVV

That team is good enough to contend for 4-8 in the East.

Get swept by the Cavs...Raptors need a lot more 3 pt shooting and someone who can slow james.

I am pretty sure the team does not have the money to replace Lowry with George as an example. I could be wrong because I am far from an expert when it comes to this but having the bird rights on Lowry/Ibaka is why the team may be able to retain them. At least that is what I am led to believe but I may be wrong.

 I'm just being realistic bruh. I'd want a greater re-tool than what I outlined, maybe even something closer to a re-build, but until I see Masai actually make those tough moves, I'll believe it when I see it.

What would you think of replacing Casey with Stackhouse? I think the team needs a voice.

Sign Jeff Teague.

Sign Serge Ibaka.

Trade Jonas Valanciunas and Cory Joseph and a pick if necessary for a star wing who fits in well next to Derozan and shoots a ton of 3s.

Hire the next Brad Stevens to coach a more diverse offensive team that runs its offence primarily through the two wings with Teague and Ibaka as 15ppg complimentary pieces.

Move Norm to a 6 man role.

Start Poeltl at C.

Make Siakam the backup PF.

That team is winning 42 games at best. If I was still trying to compete and wanted to switch things up, maybe resign Lowry and trade Demar to the Clippers with Carroll and Joseph for a resigned Blake (if he agrees to come here) and a resigned JJ Reddick(if he agrees to come here). Yes the Clippers do that because Doc sucks as a GM.

I play Ibaka and Blake at the 4/5. It doesn't matter which is the 4 and 5. They can take turns. Use the MLE on Bojangles. Resign Tucker. Let Patterson walk.

But really I'd just choose to rebuild.

Depending on the quality of the wing I disagree. I revised that post slightly to better explain its merits.

A. I make a list of the 5, maybe 10 most promising players younger than 23 and dangle DD and/or Jonas to get one. If I can get that player without giving up Jonas, I likely keep Jonas as our starting center or package him to get younger and cheaper. You keep JP, Powell, and Wright and then have to be open to trading whoever else if it means locking in a core piece.

I'm guessing Lavine and Jokic are pretty much untouchable, but my first calls would probably be to the Nuggets and Wolves while then calling virtually every other team in the league to make a three way trade work to their liking.

the 76ers could be an interesting team to call since we all think Lowry might look to play there. Could make sense to try to sell them on taking BOTH our all-star guards since they have a lot of cap space to make some interesting deals happen. The Lakers and Nets are two other teams I would be calling.

If I can't get a player on my list...

B. I do whatever it takes to keep Ibaka, Lowry, and DD together. If it takes moving Jonas with Carroll or Cojo to a team like Boston for a solid role player (like Jae Crowder) and significant cap relief, I do so. I hope that Tucker and Patterson want to come back at reasonable deals.

Assuming we still have Jonas, I offer Jonas and Norm for Paul George. Accept almost any deal that centres on those two. If we can't get Paul George, I'd hope Jonas in a three way deal would help us net Khris Middleton. If not, I move my focus to trying to grab a guy like Tobias Harris, Wilson Chandler, or Reddick while Jonas and JP are off the table.

Revisit "Plan A" if still not convinced a third into the season.

See, I'm not even sure if that happens. I'm thinking, Stackhouse probably gets promoted onto the coaching staff as maybe the lead assistant if Rex Kalamian goes elsewhere, and that might be the extent of it, at least this summer. Now, if Dwane and the Raps get off to a bad start and struggle out of the gate next season, then I can see Stackhouse taking over for Dwane.

Oh no doubt that's what Masai will end up doing...We'd be lucky to get chandler though.

    - Fire Casey and relevant members of the coaching
    - Hire Messina/Stackhouse/Raptor Jesus
    - Re-sign Lowry - not at the max, but at something better than the rest of the league can offer
    - Re-sign Tucker & Ibaka
    - Let PPat walk - which earlier this year I said was unthinkable, but he can't make shots
    - Trade Carroll, give up a future first if I have to
    - Send JV to work on his condition and foot speed
    - Insert Bruno into the starting line-up
    - Punch LeBron in the nuts
    - Smoke a cigar and celebrate a job well done.

For Me:

Keep for now trade at a later time: Derozan/Ibaka

Keep for a rebuild: Joseph/Powell/Poeltl/Siakam

You want to rebuild with Joseph??

I hope that is a typo for your sake.

Starting Bruno? lol Other then that I kinda think the same as you. I got JV/Joseph on the block though as they are expendable assets that I would want picks/shooters/salary relief for.
